good for you. you're an idiot, too.

Ricers/posers present their cars as something they are not. They replace their own badges/emblems/stickers with those of higher-range models, and add stickers from aftermarket companies whose products they do not own. There is an element of dishonesty and trickery involved. This crap is loud, obnoxious, and meant to draw attention. These 'mods' are the Ed Hardy of the car world. Looks are subjective, and subjectively these cars tend to look like crap. Everything about these cars is counterfeit.

The dub/Audi scene involves no dishonesty or element of illusion. Putting Mercedes wheels on a vw does not imply anything other than the owner has put wheels from another company on their car. It is not an attempt to fool others into believing the car is something which it is not. This concept is no different than putting BBS or Kinesis wheels on a car.

Reading comprehension fail. That's not what this thread is about. Thanks for reinforcing the second point in my first response to you.

Funny you should mention that.... The AMG badge abuse on Mercs is much more prevalent than the ///M abuse by non-M BMW owners.... Saw a new E-Class the other day with AMG badging on the back. I thought it wasn't even out yet. Anyway, it doesn't matter if it is out, because he only had dual exhaust. Fail.

I know what this thread is about. My original post was unrelated to the OP's post. I was commenting on the images that were posted afterwards. But if calling me an idiot makes you feel better about yourself, more power to you.

yes, and those pictures were illustrating the use of dishonest badging, not the ricer aesthetic, so your response was irrelevant to the pictures, too.

So stupid

People who know what an ///M car is will be able to recognize that the badge is fake.

People like my mom who has no clue about cars, will never even notice.

Bottom line, the only people that will notice an ///M badge will know that you are a pathetic poser (or a very luck individual if you happen to own the real deal )

How do you have a 323i? Is that bought and stowed in some foreign land?

I honestly saw a guy in the Vacaville area coming home from my roadtrip driving a 650i M6....lol. Correct me if I am wrong, but its just an M badge, not a 650i badge too? LOL. Oh yea, didnt have M6 rims either, haha

I saw a fat guy wearing a Superman T-Shirt...I guess that's kind of the same as throwing an M-Badge on a non-M car.

It doesn't matter if one group "knows what they are doing" or not. I'm sure there are those that look at my 135i and think I ruined a perfectly good car. Just like me, they have a right to their own opinion as well. Being unique is great and all, but doing something that looks stupid for the sake of being unique? Not my cup of tea. And as looks are subjective, I think I have the right to determine what I think looks good or not on a car.

Big wings, stickers, and neon lights on a japanese car is no worse than slammed over-sized mercedes wheels on a VW. I respect both side's decisions to do what they want with their car equally. But I also think both styles look like crap.
Yes looks are subjective, I guess let's let every crowd do their own thing.

Plenty of them in Taiwan, Thailand and Manila. I see them at times around Rowland Heights and Hacienda Heights here in California.

so if I put Merc rims on my BMW and leave the merc emblem on it it is ok?
if I take a Porsche steering wheel and put it in my BMW. That's cool too right?

in that respect, people who take the M3 grill and put it on their civic and leave the M3 badge on it is fine too.. they are being unique!

How is it different from taking a badge from another company and placing it on their car. No one will be fooled into thinking a Ford Mustang is a BMW. All it is implying is the owner put a badge from a different company. He likes BMW.

See where you are flawed?
