19" to 20" recommendations for comfort

Hi guys..
I recently picked a Black 2012 550i M-Sport with 19" 351M wheels. I am torn between getting the 351M wheels powder coated to ferric grey/anthracite/gunmetal or get new rims, as of now I am liking the VMR V710 in gunmetal or solar rain, in 19" or 20".
I am looking for suggestions whether to powder coat 351M wheels or not.
If I go after-market, then should I get 20" rims considering comfort is my first priority (the roads in LA are very bad). What tires are best for comfort in 20" and what size tires would I need.I currently have Michelin Primacy HP and I like them in comfort and handling.
Thanks in advance.

Since comfort is your first priority, you're probably best of with 19".

+1

You'll have more sidewall protection but even than a pothole no matter what size rim/tire ur running could potentially cause damage

Thinking about staying at 19" but don't like the silver look of the m-sport wheels on the car. Don't know if powder coating the 351m would be a good idea. I do like the VMR 710s in gunmetal.

Went from factory 18's to 20 VMR 710'S about 2 months ago. Gloss anthracite. Tires are nitto motivos all season 255/35, 295,30. 27.1 diameter so still have 3.5" of sidewall. A little more road noise, rides about the same, handles better than the 18 runflats. Looks like a totally different car. Pics were on overcast day rims are about two shades darker than gunmetal.

WOW that looks amazing. Your car really transformed a lot by changing those wheels. But is the Gloss anthracite a color for V710? or is it different from the gunmetal they have? I can find only 3 colors on their website (gunmetal, silver and black)

They have the basic three, any others are powder coat. I looked at the solar rain also but its hard to tell how dark they are in pics. Too dark you loose the details. After talking to the sales dept I went with the anthracite. You should check out their "sunken treasure" powder coat. It would look awesome on a blk 550 and big ups on originality. No modded out 5s in Vbeach, but Cali seems to have quite a few. Rims are about 350, another 100 if you order a special color and you can go gloss or matte. Check the VMR on tumbler or flicker for gallery pics. 6-8 wks on orders I think.

I recently swapped out my 19" 351M to the 20" AG M355. I dont know if its the GY tires or what but I find the 20" to be more comfortable. Granted I have to be more careful driving with the 20" are they are more susceptible to bending. Overall, if you have smooth roads, go 20"!

Nice! what a difference it makes just by slapping on new wheels.

Thanks. Got some anthracite enamel paint and micro brushes, painted the valve stems, caps and balance weights to match the rims. Made a big difference in close up appearance. Cost $15 bucks and that includes the six pack I had doing it.

Naw, no pics on hand. Out of state with work for a bit. I'll take a couple when I get back and post em. Painted the lug bolts along with the other stuff. Recommend it to anyone else who might be just a little ocd like me.

Bointeg, you pick out new rims yet. Saw the curb rash you posted after your boy drove it. Drive thru was a good guess at what happened.

Is it OK to put 245/40/20 and 275/35/20 on 550i? I know that OEM are 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 and when going 20" one should put 245/35/20 and 275/30/20. Other than the speedo being off, is there any other disadvantage?

Plasti dip in graphite metallizer is also an option

In the link you find a F11 with 245/40-20 and 275/35-20: f10.5post.com

I think it looks great!

I don't see any disadvantages, better comfort and fills the wheel housings a bit more (especially on non-lowered cars).
