BMW F10 Dusty Instrument Cluster Cleaned!
Cause: Dust build up inside the Instrument Cluster, and I'm OCD.
Model: 2013 BMW 535i Sedan With M Sport Package I've searched online and many of those said it was sealed or 'something u couldn't open" stuff. The only solution suggested by online search is to take it out, then, to use compressed air to blow the dust off. So, for a long time, I stay quiet and pretend there's nothing in my cluster. Today, my OCD broke out. So I planed to take it out by myself and go to a place with compressed air to give it a shot. The result was pretty good. But the shocking thing is the cluster is not sealed, it popped open with some clips and 4 small trox screws. I guess it is a good news for those OCD 5er owners. Which means you can take it out in 15 minutes and clean it effortlessly. The procedure is as easy as LEGO. You can find video on Youtube. My advice: 1, tilt steering wheel to the most bottom and toward you. Thus, u can take the module out. 2, apply as little pressure as u can while cleaning the cluster. Because the layer is freak'in fragile! It will leave scratches! And worst part is the layer is sucking dust at any second! Maybe static? I don't know. Please use glasses cleaning towel. 3 drops of water will help! 3, U can seal it with some duct tape to prevent future dust or slow the dust build up duration. Good luck. I'm not 100% sure, but I would be shocked if you couldn't. Pull out the cluster and give it a look. Takes about 2 mins to remove.
