Sway bar angle to measure for End Links?
Guys, trying to figure out the sway bar angle in order to measure for adjustable end links. Check out the video to see what I mean. Thanks!

So in doing more research and taking some more measurements I think I got this figured out. Their are advantages of going with a spherical end link vs the stock one regardless of the question at hand.
BUT looking at the angles, and knowing that the sway bar is acting as a torsion spring, the angle will matter and the less I have it "hanging out there" and more of a direct push it has onto the bushing mounting points, the stiffer or quicker the response rate will be. Therefore, if stock end links are 12" I think I'm going to go with these here: https://www.bimmerworld.com/Suspensi...4aAiuxEALw_wcB I'm going to call and see if the F2X/F3x 10"-11.5" bars will work. They are cheap, spherical, and only 1/2" shorter than stock but up to 2" shorter than stock. |

OK, not sure if there is any interest here because no one has replied, but bimmerworld got back to me and these are M10 bolts, not M12 like we need up front. However, in thinking about this, I have two options: asked them if they can get me M12 ends on that length of a link, OR simply do some clay style steel epoxy around the M10 bolt to make it fit an M12 size hole since we are technically not threading things at the M12 size, but rather just going through that size a hole, then when you put their M10 nut on the back side it will seal the epoxy in there and there will be no opportunity for it to move. I'll let the epoxy dry before mounting of course, lol.
Between the two washers sealing the epoxy in there and the pressure of the nut and bolt clamping onto the strut and sway bar, I don't think this will move at all. M12 to M10 is a difference of only 1/16th of an inch anyway. This would ALSO be the solution for the rears where there is an M10 end and an M12 end. Order a link with the lower of the two and apply the same solution on your M10 bolt going through the M12 hole. Luky |

Ordered:
https://www.bimmerworld.com/Suspensi...d-Links_3.html They cannot modify the bolt size on the endlink so I ordered these and will figure out a solution... I'm going to see if I can sleeve the bolt to size if not, epoxy will work just fine. |

Install is done, turned out great. I'll do an install video here shortly, my son wants to edit it...
Here is the before and after as far as how the sways now sit: |

So how does your suspension feel with the new parts? Also, what coil overs did you go with?

I went with BC coilovers re valved by redshift. Right now I have not done the install video because I am trouble shooting a clunking noise. I don't know if it is end link, coil overs or a combo of both.
The suspension feels a lot better. It is a lot more reaponsive and predictable going into turns, especially when breaking things loose or sudden weight transfer from one side to the other. But at the end of the day these things are boats, I was kinda hoping it would feel like my old e30 M3 that was a track car but that is too high an expectation for this big a vehicle lol |

I started investigating the same issue with my car, I noticed how low the sway bar hangs now that I've lowered my car. What was the overall length of the end link that you ended up using to tuck the sway bar back up? I'm trying to determine if there is an OEM replacement (maybe from another BMW) that is roughly the length required to bring the sway bar back up into the original position.

The link to the part in the previous post gives the specs on what I installed. I left it as short as what it could go. Stay tuned for an install video.

Interesting.... yeah I think if you lowered it 2", you may want to go 2" shorter on the end links too to keep the angles and clearances the same. I like the cradles you built.

Why didn't you go with this Eibach adjustable link?
https://eibach.com/us/i-12083-eibach...255-285mm.html This seems to be the adjustment you need, and its a 12mm bolt. They have them in stock for $100 for the pair. I have been considering the same thing, and I might do this now. For the rear, I bet you can buy one link of each size, then swap ends.

It only has 1" adjustment and I am learning you do NOT want a spherical end link or a metal on metal end link on a street car. It makes noise and is extremely annoying. Sounds like something is loose almost. I am swapping out my ends with a 3 piece poly style to avoid the metal on metal.

I would like to do something with spherical end links but I need to figure out the correct angle since it is not 2 90 degree angles connected by a straight bar... there is a slight angle to it... that is the issue.

Correct angle of the ball joint, or the sway bar?

No, I'm talking about correct angle of the actual end link itself. If you have a straight bar for the end link, then a 90 degree angle connecting to the strut, the lower connection is NOT a 90 degree - it's like 110 degrees... the angle where it connects to the sway bar is more than 90. So if you are going with a spherical end link that is set to 90, it'll max out the angle pre maturely under load and make noise. So I just need to figure that out and I'll be good.

I thought those were essentially spacers to account for offset... not for angle. Order them and let me know :-)

I decided to go with SuperPro links. Spherical end links just aren't worth it for street use
