10 days and counting
Only 10 days until my new F10 520d arrives. I've been told it's in the country and been given a delivery date. Snow pending obviously. My spec is:
520d Sports Auto, Sports steering wheel, Xirallic imperial blue, Oyster/black, Anthracite wood, Style 328 18" alloys, Professional nav, Business speakers, Folding mirrors, Sunroof, DAB, Folding rear seats, ambient lighting, USB interface. I've been reading the forum for about 6 weeks and bitten the bullet to register and post. Will put some pics up in two weeks for you. Not worried by all the posts on lack of driveability with additional suspension costs as have driven the standard car and owned a 325 SE convertible previously. I am interested to hear your thoughts on performance of 520d overtaking and what the sunroof is like if you'd be so kind to reply. Thanks |

Me too...
Practically the same spec....but I have to wait until Feb 20 so are just starting to read up on the forum.
I currently drive an Audi A4 multitronic/auto which is proving rubbish in this icy English winter as it has no winter mode and won't let you select second gear to pull away. Do you know if the 520 auto has a winter mode? Enjoy the new car! |

Performance
I only have my test drives to go on, but stepping from a 2006 2.0Tdi (140bhp) audi a4 into the 520 I was really impressed.
You'd expect a heavier car to be slower and less responsive but it was the opposite. The A4 suffers horrible turbo lag from a standing start. The 520 was much much better. So much so that I asked the dealer if it had two turbos (it doesn't). Overtaking was about the same as the A4 which is no slouch. All in all I was very impressed with performance, but I had limited time to judge. |
