Advice: Lease Repair

My 2013 F10 550 xdrive got hit in the rear bumper and is pretty ugly. My local dealer (BMW of Bellevue) has recommend a shop for repair. The problem is that the shop is notorious for having terrible customer service and length of repair. They said I will have to get it repaired there due to the car being leased.

Does anybody know if this is true? or can i go to a reputable shop of my preference?

Thanks

That sucks! I had a leased 750i that got hit hard a few years back. I was given a list of local shops from my dealer that I could choose from. The bottom line is that the dealer wants to ensure that a reputable shop did the work so at turn in they won't ding you, so to speak.

I had no problem when the lease was up and no additional out of pocket.

Good luck.

You can get your car repaired wherever you want. If your dealer actually gave good rec then go with that one. If there is a better shop then I would not hesitate to use that one and I have done so with prior leased cars that needed repair.

You can use whatever shop you want - most states, in fact, even have laws protecting your right to choose where to have repairs done so insurance companies (and presumably other stakeholders) can't run rackets or force consumers to throw business at only certain shops - which is also anticompetitive.

Have the work done by whoever you like - just make sure they do a solid job and don't cut corners or you may get dinged for it when you turn it in.

That sounds suspicious.

Any BMW dealer worth its name is gonna dump your car at auction rather than CPO it and resell it after you're done the lease.

Thus, most reputable dealers don't care since they have no intention of selling a previously wrecked car.

Take it to Bellevue Auto Rebuild - probably the best in the general area.

+1, I heard that Auto Rebuild is the best one in Bellevue. I always go to Collision Specialist in Kent since the quote is very acceptable. It is almost like a year and nothing happen with the paint, same thing like OEM. I highly recommend to fix your bumper here.

Take a look at your lease. I don't think the dealer has any say, but the lease terms are what matters, not what I (or anyone else here on the board) may think.
