Tire recommendation for 535i MSport
For a 535i with staggered 19"wheels - what are you guys running for your tires - sticking with run flats or ditching them for nonRFT?
My moms 535i came with Bridgestone Turanzas - they are pricey tires , but she drives barely 12k per year so they should last a while. If she boots to get a cheaper tire - i'm curious if she should stick with run flats or if she should just try and find a lesser expensive run flat or ditch the run flats altogether and get a standard tire. I didn't see any reviews on her existing tires on the tire rack and I'm wondering how they compare to the competition.

What type of driving does your mom do? Her age? AAA membership? Putt around town? Road trips? Those would be my deciding factors. |

My mom Mostly does trips around town and occasionally takes short road trips to visit family she very rarely ever is more than 30 or 40 miles from home and never in an area far from a large city she lives in Southern California so AAA would be close by and she has roadside assistance through the CPO.
She doesn't drive that much probably 10 to 12,000 miles a year maximum maybe even less which is another reason why I thought just stick with the run flats yes the tires cost more but she's not going to be replacing them very often

Since it's your Mom's car I would replace them with RF's just in case she gets a flat she can drive it to a service center

RFs are a bit rougher but since it's your mom, ditto on keeping the RFs since the trips are short.
I'm rarely 30+ miles away from a city and I kept my RFs also (rather keep the trunk space free/sometimes fill it up). If you did non-RFs you'd have to throw in a spare + get her AAA unless she is sure she can change it herself. AAA will help you change a tire, but they won't fix your flat or plug it. |
