Insurance cost for F10

I am looking at getting a 2016 CPO F10 (I loved my 2013 535i I totalled two years ago and have been driving a 2011 G37 sport since waiting for my insurance rates to drop).

One I am considering is a 535i M-sport 20k miles ($39k) and one is a 550i M-sport 31.5k milles ($38k). Both are grey/black interior and similarly equipped... M-Sport, Premium, Drivers Assistance plus, luxury seats, HK stereo, Sirius, Nav, blah blah blah, and 550i has executive + lighting packages and rear sunshades.

So I called my state farm agent with the VIN's for a quote (same full coverage I have now) and was told the 535i would be $813 for 6 months and the 550i would only be $634 for 6 months....

I am not complaining about the price, I just find this very surprising as I assumed the V8 would be higher cost. Has anyone else experienced this?

(yes I am aware of potential issues with V8 but it is a N63tu and I'll have a couple of years of warranty under CPO so figured I would go for it. I do my own maintenance anyway (have a set of quick jacks) so not so much for me to maintain.)

That is something better explained by your agent, more variables than just the cylinder count. Age, marital status for some examples.

Yeah, I called and asked. They couldn't tell me. Figure I am same age and marital status for both cars, so I don't think that's it. All I could think of was fewer 550i on the road and mostly old (middle aged?) Farts like me driving them due to higher cost so lower accident rates vs. 535i which are way more common.

Yeah, my wifey pays for the car insurance too. She thought the 550i would be better since it was lower insurance. Thay wasn't a hard sell.
