I was lucky to have the regional rep around when I brought it in for its last complementary service. The SA said each headlight cost around $2,000. They have to remove the front fascia to replace, apparently, so its easily a $5,000 charge at the dealer, it seems. Mine were done for misting and delamination.
There are some online that describe a way to reseal them: Quote:
I would also suggest looking for a good BMW dismantler for used parts, but don't know if f10 headlights all do this..... Last edited by Pierre Louis; 01-19-2019 at 05:49 AM.. |

Obviously you have a leak somewhere, but the headlamp can easily be dried out without removing it. You will need to remove the trim under the hood to access the top bulb access cover and open the door to remove the bulb access cover in the wheel well, but after doing so, you can use a fan to dry out the headlamp. After doing so, you will need to figure out why the moisture got in. I went through the same thing a week ago and found one of the bulb access covers had come loose somehow. I assume a technician didn't tighten it at some service visit.

I spoke my dealer as I have the same issue and they said that it would not be covered under warranty as he said it was an issue a lot of BMW's have. I find this very strange as it is an issue which should be fixed under warranty.
I have this issue at present and am worried about any potential water damage to the headlights. I have said that if it does not get better, I will push them to do the fix under warranty |

I removed the headlight upper round cover to get moister out from daily engines heat cycle. Since it is cold, I don't feel like taking bumper off to remove headlights. I will keep everyone posted and a solution to fix this.

You're right that strange, if it's a know problem it should be fixed Don't back down and stand your ground about this 'known problem' Inform them of worldwide case even here in the uk and let them know a premium car maker shouldn't have this issue. Don't pay for it. Tell them to run a puma report at the dealership This brings a nationwide data to their screen and lets them know how common this issue is and people have had it fixed u set warranty.

man, i got the SAME issue, i even had all types or errors and my turn signal wasnt working, here what i did.
1) open the cover behind the wheel of the affected light 2) use a blow dryer from the outside to take moisture out (very lightly ) 3) get two 5g or one 10g silica gel pack and tape it securely onto inside of the cover u screwed off to vent(what you take off to change bulbs) 4) apply silicone sealant to all edges you can(i took my bumper off to be safe) 5) change silica every 3-6 months and ejoy clear headlights again |

I am having the same issues, and am also getting a daytime running light malfunction warning sporadically. The halos on my xenon lamps will go out and trigger the malfunction, but if I stop the car and start again, they will work from anywhere from a couple of minutes to up to an hour before going out and triggering a malfunction warning again. Do you think the DRL LED module is on it's last legs? If so, how is that replaced? Will try to the hairdryer and silica packs first and hope that helps.
