343M F10 Rubbing Paint Chipping

Hey guys, recently purchased a set of 343m rims with tires for my 2014 528i.

My plan was to wear out the 295 and 265 that are currently mounted on them and then switch to 285 255 but I think I'm going to have to do that sooner than I expected because it's starting to chip my paint when the tires rub.

I knew they were going to rub but I didn't know it was going to be this severe.

Anyone have any recommendations on how to fix the paint? Touch up or should I seek a professional body shop? Would they have to paint the whole panel?

Are you sure those wheels came off an M5? A lot of F10 owners have installed the M5 343M wheels without rubbing that I recall hearing. Maybe you have the M6 343M wheels.

Those stick out way more than my M5 343's, so could be possible.

Those do not fit at all! Not even close.

To repair the damage inflicted you're going to need to do some extensive paint work on both quarter panels with the base blended mid c-pillar and clear running all the way over the roof and down the a-pillar for a reasonably acceptable repair.

You have m6 343m wheels which have a more aggressive offset. Take a wheel off, on the back of the wheel is the part code, real oem will confirm you have m6 wheels. M6 wheels typically command much less 2nd hand to them only fitting the m6.

I feared this was the case but I was able to stick my phone back there to quickly confirm that these are in fact the 20x10 offset like the M5.

Have no idea if these are replicas or not; will have to dismount to confirm but that wouldn't change the fact that they are 20x10?

The width isn't the problem, the offset is the problem.

Looks way more aggressive than the M5 343M wheels, those are either M6 wheels are reps.
I'd take one off and check the rear side of the spokes for info.

m6 are 20x10.5 and the offset are alot lower then m5 which would push them out like that. those have to be m6. look for the .5 attached to the 10 to make it 20x10.5. or check the front which would be 20x9.5 not 9"

Taken with my phone with the wheels still attached to the car. It says 20x10J. [IMG]

I saw other markings on the other spokes but I couldn't get as clear a picture. I will have to dismount to find any specific BMW markings to confirm if these are replicas or not.

Is it possible for rims to have the wrong offset imprinted?

Edit: attachment option not working, added link to image

Offset is not 20x10. The rear of the will say etxx or +xx -xx. Now that I think about it they must be reps. On oem 343 the size of the wheels 20x10 is mounted on the back of the hub area and you would not be able to see it or capture it with a phone unless the wheel was removed.

Ahhh I see what you are saying now; what should the correct offset be?

I'll try to dismount the wheels when I get back home from work.

Et 34 front and wheel size 20x9
Et 34 rear and wheel size 20x10

The part in the pic is where the wheel size and offset is stamped

Wait a minute, they don't even have the m badge/ sticker? There is no way to make those wheels not rub on that car, put your stock back on before you really mess up the 1/4 panels

Real 343M wheels are forged, the ones you have are cast replicas.

Genuine forged wheels have no reliefs on the backside, and the specifications are rolled into the milled pad, not cast into the mold.

I hope you didn't buy these thinking they were genuine BMW forged wheels. You likely paid 2-3 times what you should have.

Good catch. I think there is a relief for the badge, but can't tell with the picture provided.

Knock off M5 343M rims

This is what they should look like on your car. These are OEM 343M rims on a stock 535i M sport.

I bought these 343m wheels that a seller reported as being off an m5. I downsized from 295 to 285 thinking this would've made it sit flush with the fender but it still protrudes as shown. I didn't take off the wheel to confirm but I haven't had much issues with rubbing or anything. Is it okay to keep driving it as is? Especially as I bought new tires today.

There needs to be some disclaimer about the M6 vs M5 343 wheels because I got two conflicting answers from retailers - only buy the 343 if they are M5 wheels.

That's what all my research has shown but I'm confused now because I likely have the m6 343m however they fit perfectly with the exception of the rears poking out.
