SUCCESS!!!! It seems this update took less time than previous updates... fewer new items I suppose.

Had I done this prior to our trip we may not have been lost in the Biltmore Forest for an hour looking for the Biltnore mansion!

Thanks for posting the link. I did the update to my fathers NBT and surprisingly it never asked for an FSC. He was on the original 2015-1 that came with it new so an FSC has never been entered in the past.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is an "NBT" system? Also does some have a video or instructions on how to download the file & then upload the file to one's F10? I noticed some people have their USB located in the glove compartment. I look in mine & noticed there was not one in there, however there is one in my middle console. Does anyone here know if I can use that port instead to upload the updated map. Thanks in advance.

CIC is pre-LCI infotainment. NBT (believe it or not it stands for NextBestThing ) is the LCI version. The LCI eliminated the glovebox USB and incorporated its function into the console USB. That (console) USB is the one where you'll upload the map software. The interface, graphics and some other things are updated. Our 2012 has the CIC and the 2014 the NBT; I much prefer the NBT.

The easiest option is to purchase a pre-loaded USB from one of the vendors here. If you're good working with software you can download the software for free, install it on a 32gb (or greater) USB, obtain an FSC (you can get a lifetime FSC for cheap on eBay) and then download the maps through the console USB.

Just received my USB for 2019 Navi update from BMW ($70).
Started my bimmer, inserted it thru the port and started downloading. 20 minutes later, it's history for me. Successfully updated my Navigation system to 2019.
Though I was provided the FSC code by BMW but it didn't even asked to enter them during the entire update. Just curious why....

3 possibilities:
1) Car already had lifetime FSC code entered
2) BMW has some coding on the flash drive that bypasses it. For easy end user install.
3) The maps didn't actually update? But its probably one or two.

Tha map actually updated. At the end of the update it did say " update successfull".

You have to 'unzip' it with an app that can handle .7z files. Use unarchiver on a Mac.

And when you move the files to a thumb drive (on a Mac), get rid of all the dot files, including the spotlight index.

Ok, if I understand correctly. I use the link to download the zip file > open with the unarchiver > add to Bittorrent > Download > Should generate a Zip file once it's complete > open the new zip file with the unarchiver > Add to USB removing the dot files and spotlight index

Correct? Thanks so much for your help in advance. Sounds like the file I downloaded wasted 1.5 hrs of my life last night lol

hi guys, im having the same issue as another user. I formatted the usb to fat/ guide partion map. I added the 4 folders and the other to. I plug it into the glove box and nothing. any suggestions?
