Is this mid section pipe supposed to be pancaked like this?

Thats how mine was, seems like thats how its made.

Yea, makes sense, seems too uniform for it to be an accident - I am just not sure why they did it, if they fit the exhaust slightly better they wouldn't need to do that. Plenty of room IMO.

Maybe to avoid rattling? If it's too close to the support member, it could definitely cause a lot of rattle.
