Stop Car Communicating with Dealership

With my car now running just on the CPO warranty, I have no plans to use the dealership for maintenance or other work really beyond warranty-related issues.

Since I'll be doing the maintenance stuff myself, I wanted to see how I can stop the car from communicating with the dealership when maintenance warnings come up to avoid the annoying sales calls from the service department.

Can it be done? If so, how?

I would expect you cannot, even if you turn off connecteddrive. But you should ask this question in the coding forum.

I'd try calling the service department and letting them know about that first.

We have a 2012 and a 2014 535i and have NEVER received a call from my dealer for any required service. In fact, my wife's (2012) 535 is due in a week or so for service and I have yet to receive a call. I do plan on taking it in after the new year for the service. Believe it or not my dealer is very, very competitive with the local indy. Could be because the indy is less than a mile away!

I haven't received calls, but I have received emails. Easy to ignore.

The car sends a lot of data to BMW, not just maintenance telemetry. You send stuff like GPS data (location, speed, time), speed limit data, traffic and weather data, etc. You can disable this stuff in Europe because of GDPR but I don't know if they'd be willing to do it in the US. The process involves updating every computer in the car and takes several hours to finish but it's mostly an automatic process. It shouldn't cost much.
