Could be. Or the M5 may run a different spindle with different hub depth but same hub. Hey HOA do you happen to know if the M5 and E70 x5m rotors have the same rotor offset? If so my measurements will still apply for the correct spacing. If not I'll have to wait for those to come in and remock it up and measure before ordering spacers. Then again..may just get tube steel and make my own anyways so it's just one piece and not multiple washers/spacers.

They are off by about 1.1mm

One of us can be a Guinea pig and try lol. I’ll try to check schematics and dimensions to see if it’s similar. I know you can swap the entire spindle and arms over making it a full M5 swap. No need for adaptors that way

Thanks for your help and Intel so far HOA, I do appreciate the time. On that note I almost went to the M5 swap. I found a set of used spindles complete with rotors for around $150 each. Way cheaper than the adapters to fit the calipers

It would poke out more so you would need M5 fenders. M5 fenders also require M5 bumpers. M5 bumpers require M5 plastics around fender and bumper. It’s a big chain reaction. You also won’t have a specific plastic trim for ACC sensor if you have ACC since M5 never came with it. It’s a big chain reaction that’s why not many have done it.

I did an upgrade for a local person and decided to weigh the stock 348 vs 374 loaded caliper and rotor. All parts are OEM. Home scale is not precise but can give you an idea of the weight difference per corner.

For those that have never done it and because we discovered new solution over time, here is the up to date how to upgrade. It does require bending/trimming your heat shield and 2 washers for each caliper. I bend because you can revert to stock if needed.

Our cars do not use banjo fittings, nor do the upgraded calipers use it. It's just a normal thread in connection that seals via the flare.

Some info on pads. 374 and 395 uses the same pads. Yes, they are the same size. BMW uses different part numbers to trick you thinking they are different but they are not. Because they are the same size, 374 will expose the pads a little while 395 covers it completely. Same piston size as well.

Thanks! Thoughts on brands of aftermarket pads? EBC? Stoptech? The OE Akebono pads I have on the B7 calipers I am replacing produced a lot of dust. Not the end of the world but they they would really dust the wheel after just a few miles.

The dust can be annoying but I haven’t found a great alternative yet. Ceramic pads will help with dust but I haven’t found one that is as good as OEM as far as stopping power

I chose akebono for the rear 550i setup for less dust and ran them prior and liked them. Running the power stop Z16 pad for the front...think it's 16-1868 part #.

Just finished install. Rears bolted on as expected. Fronts took some trials on and off to get the spacing perfect. But right at 9.85mm of washer/spacer for the calipers got them perfectly centered on the rotor. FYI for others who haven't kept up, this is the G05 395mm calipers up front. With the M5 rotor it was closer to just under 9mm. The x5m rotors wanted a little more. Point is, for anyone doing this, measure and don't settle till you get the right spacing. It's tedious but not difficult.

I'm also already running ecs tuning stainless brake lines, they fit the new calipers perfectly as expected. Bought a pressure bleeder from Amazon, the motiv brand. Man that thing makes it easy, highly suggest. Still doing bed in procedure on the pads but everything seems good to go and the pedal is getting more and more bite as they seat in and wear off the rotor and pad coatings.
