535i shopping - why some w sport seats others dont?
I'm interested in a 535xi M Sport. I notice some have the sport seats, others do not. Sport seats are a must for me.
I thought it was a 14 vs. 15 thing, but looking at ads I cannot figure it out. Any ideas?

I forget what year the switch happened, but sport seats were initially part of the M-Sport package, but then later in the lifecycle it was removed from the M-Sport package and became a stand alone option. There were other changes throughout the lifecycle for the M-Sport as well relating to suspension. Make sure you understand the features and years so you get a car spec'd to your liking. Good luck!

I have a 2013 m sport - no sport seats and stock suspension - from what I recall researching, I think 2013 was the first year the m sport package became purely cosmetic.
Fwiw, I'm 6'4 and the thigh support extension was originally a must have - you'll see plenty of threads reinforcing that - but my car was too good of a buy. Had a lot of anxiety about it but thankfully now it doesn't bother me. It'd be nice to have, sure, but I've mostly forgotten about it. Certainly doesn't make or break the driving experience like I thought it would. |

My legs are normal length (not tall) and the thigh extension grew painful on long trips due to the empty area in between. I stopped using it in my 335d sport package.

You can always tell which seats are in a car by just looking at them. I would suggest getting the sport automatic transmission if you are looking for a car with the auto transmission. |

If you go auto, go Msport. Honestly, I would go Msport regardless. The Sport A/T and and the cosmetics alone are more than worth it. I think base F10s look like poo compared to the Msports.

This. They have always been a stand alone option as far as I know.

Really? With paddle shifters? I believe in 2011-2013 it was an option, but I could be wrong. I swear I read that somewhere.

Yes, but in the USA only two of those seat types are available. The base USA seats are either the Standard or the (Euro) Sport seats, not sure which they actually are but they're lame, and optional are the Comfort seats (AKA Multi-Contour seats). They can also optionally be heated or ventilated/cooled.

I have a 13 M-Sport with Comfort seats (AKA Multi-Contour seats). They can also optionally be heated or ventilated/cooled. feels cool to me. The butt Massager isnt that great though. The G series has great Massaging seats.

There's no cooling function, just a fan. My last car had cooled seats and there is a noticeable difference. I NEVER had a wet/damp back with them and the seat felt cool, not just room/car temp.

You all are correct. 12/13 comfort seats were standard. 14 and on, they are an option.
Are the comfort seats really worth it? I've spend 2 weeks looking. I can find 10 perfect spec 535xi m sport cars, at the right price, but NO comfort seats. Stupid BMW for making them an option on M Sport... its making finding the right car impossible. UGH!!

In a word??? YES!!!!!!!! The base seats are comfortable (took a 3100+ mile road trip and they never felt uncomfortable), but the comfort seats are are that much more comfortable. I would definitely require them for any future purchase.

Alright... you guys are right. Since this is a DD and long distance car, those seats will be missed if I dont have them...
