Leak

Can some help : Looks like a possible leak underneath: This is my 2014 BMW 550I has 75,000 miles on it still covered by CPO and maintenance for another 4 months. Have a appointment this week at the dealer. Any idea what is leaking

Oil filter housing gasket. Common on all bmw

I just had mine replaced! Get this done ASAP. Oil can leak onto your belt / pulley / etc and cause major damage. I believe there are 2 gaskets you need to replace. It is DIYable if you have the tools and a few hours. I paid about $500 for parts and labor at indy shop.

was told the same thing. I stopped driving my car until I got this done!

Bad picture

I do not think it is the oil filter housing, this photo I took is at the bottom of the motor. It is at dealer now so the wait is on, any other ideas .

Results

turned out to be an oil pan gasket leak and they also found a pad idler arm pulley was bad

I thought that was the oil pan. But the black plastic looked like the oil filter cap. Threw me off. What’s a pad idler arm? Btw. If you have x drive. Oil pan gasket is a major job. Lots of suspension components have to be disconnected

Idler pulley , and yes I think it is involved job to replace the oil pan gasket, very happy to only have a small deductible . Not Xdrive just straight 550i
