Best option for least intrusive phone mount?

Where do you expect the phone holder to go? Your last option would be a windshield mounted phone holder.

I used the magic mount and 3m tape it next to my idrive screen. Uses a magnet.

I like using the snap-in adapter of plugging my phone into the console and leaving my phone in the console. Everything I would need to use the phone for I can use the steering wheel or voice controls.

The snap-in adapter is just for 1 specific iPhone model correct? or can you get different ones for different phones?

The snap-in adapter has various different adapters, I think there's one where it's a snap-in to an actual USB cable, so technically you can run any phone.

This is what I use and it's probably the least intrusive mount I've used:

Yes. I had one for my iPhone 4 & 5. I have the "universal" adapter for my XR.

That's what I have for my iPhone XR. The issue is the cable from the adapter to the iPhone is no longer available. I bought the adapter used (can't get a new one) and the cable at the iPhone end was broken internally. I solved the problem by cutting off the non-iPhone connection and splicing the iPhone connector in its place. I watched a YouTube on repairing an iPhone cable and it looked simple enough. It does take some finesse as the wires are small. After I spliced and isolated the wires from each other, I Used heat-shrink to solidify the repair. It's worked flawlessly for almost a year now. I didn't pay this much, but...
