Cup holder pre to lci duct

Hey all,
2011 f10 to lci cup holder swap.

The duct beneath the cup holders are in the way. Many have claim to cut the duct so the new cup holder fit.

Issue is, when I cut open the duct. so all the a/c that goes to the back is going to escape from this holes, obviously it just makes sense.

With what can I cover the hole?

I've seen this on another post from 2014 but have no clue what this is.

Contemplating doing this as well. I figure that's just some plastic sheeting with mastic or something holding it in place. As long as the cuts conform to the contours of the cup holder, you just need something to fill the gaps.

You can use duct tape for AC systems. Or if you want to do it right, you can replace that piece. Removing the center console is not bad. There’s only a few bolts holding it in place. I’ve seen more and more LCI F10 getting parted out now days.

The part is actually molded into the center console. It’s hard plastic so it’s a mess if you try to cut it inside the car.

I actually have a black one removed from my car if anyone is interested. It is in excellent condition. I changed to merino leather a year ago.

I went to RealOem this afternoon to look for the p/n on my pre-lci and a 2015 one.
However both part numbers are the same.

StradaRedlands where did you found this p/n?

Are you referring to the whole center console or just the air duct beneath the cup holder?
I'd like to change just the air duct instead of cutting it plus duct tape.

I believe is no 5, guess it's more work to take apart the center console and change this part.

Item 5 in your photo is right where your arm rest is. That part cans be plastic pipe or a blower motor if the vehicle is equipped with 4 zone.

As you can see in my photo, I have a blower in that place. That is not where the cup holder is. It is at the front of the console. That pipe is one piece with the console.

Update
Went with the dremel route.. without a dremel
used a hand saw blade and some sort of shear cutters

At the end didn't put duct tape, just left it open.. still there's a flow of a/c to the back.
No the best job but it's hidden.

Thanks for posting! I have the LCI cupholder ordered and in route! Did you make some sort of a template or just eyeball it?

Made a template with a piece of paper, marked the side tabs and the cups and transfer it to the ducts, but mostly eyeball it after that..
At the end I thought it was hitting something on the left side, but just needed to push down on the big trim piece.

Sorry to revive a dead-ish post but does the trim top from pre lci cup holder fit the lci cup holder? And what is the part number for the piece to replace? Or I can also cut it.

Trims are the same. FYI I added the LCI cupholder to my 2013 and I didn't need to cut the duct as above. Mine just fit.
