N63TU crank case breather hose

Hello All,

I just acquired a 2014 550i N63TU and a check engine lean bank 1 code lead me to find part 11158647299 breather hose that was glued together due to a crack. Anyhow, i can buy the part and do it myself. One end of the breather hose disappears under the bank 1 passenger side somewhere. Is there a DIY for this work? i could't find anything on the forum after a few searches.

Thanks in advance!

I had what i believe is the same issue on my 2014 550i with n63tu a few years back, i also saw a bit of oil on the top of the engine (under the plastic cover) where the o2 sensor screws in.

Turns out it was a defect and fixed under a recall. So may want to reach out your dealer first...or take the car there and have them diag it...worse case if its not covered you're out the DIAG fee...but if it is the same issue everything will be covered.

Thanks! Yes it’s most likely the same issue. The problem is that i have the TU engine upgrade which doesn’t qualify for the recall, even tho the old part version was installed on it. I might call BMW NA to see if they can help, or at least get me the new part for free...

Yes perfect thank you!

I sent a communique to BMW NA to see if they would apply the Customer Care Package to my N63TU engine, i shot in the dark but who knows.

If that does work i ll just buy the part and doing myself

Thanks for your help folks!

Cheers,

It's really easy to replace. You just need to take off the air box (flathead screw) and 3 sensor wires, use a pick to separate out the clips of the hose connection points, and a torx bit to get two small bolts off thta hold the crank case side of the hose.

10 min for each side. Don't let dealer scam you $500

N63TU crank case breather hose

Check engine light on. Took car to stealer ship, diagnosis, cracked vent tubes. Not covered under CPO vehicle with 26k miles. $1800 repair. Am I crazy or does this sound like a no lube bohica?
