I have a Trek bike that someone gifted me as a motorsports paddock ride about 10 years ago sitting in my race car hauler thanks to my forced medical retirement from competition, and the tires are now dry-rotted and won't hold air. There's no Trek dealers nearby, and I feel strange carrying the whole bike into a LBS that sells other brands. I'd like to try and ride it around our neighborhood, if for no other reason than to see if my internal gyroscope isn't so far gone from my ticker being hotwired that I'd face-plant before getting it out of first gear.

I'm not a stranger to changing motorcycle/bicycle tires and tubes or even truing wheels, but K-Mart is long out of business in our region for bicycle parts and I don't know if I can pry a tire off of a rim any more with two screwdrivers to do it myself.....
vreihen16 Order the parts and tools online. It's a 10 minute job per tire, if you are moving slolwy, to remove the tire and tube, and put a new one one.

Needed:
- tube
- tire
- tire lever (plastic tool to remove tire)
- air pump (assume you already have one of these)

I've done tire/tube changes dozens of times in my younger days, and even trued bicycle and motorcycle wheels. Living with heart failure these days, taking off quick-release wheels is challenge enough! I really want a professional to look the wheels over and check the spoke tensions, since I'm pretty sure that it was ridden in excess of its designed weight limits a time or two in the past. Plus, I honestly don't know what type or size tires/tubes are appropriate for the somewhat unique bicycle-riding mecca that I live next to...and of course not dry-rotting again for another 10+ years.

This whole idea may be moot at this point. I went outside about an hour ago, to pull the bike out of my race car hauler. When I stepped up through the side door, one of my knees buckled and I took a tumble onto the trailer floor. It took me almost 5 minutes to recover from the "help me, I've fallen and can't get up" moment, slide to the door, and get back onto my feet outside the door. Looks like riding a bicycle is beyond my abilities at this point if I can't even get it out of the trailer!

My bicycle helmet was hanging right inside the trailer door. I brought it into the house with me, to see if/how several years of baking in the hot trailer did any damage to my rare Snell B95 lid.....

It's cooler here now so perfect time to do my usual 10-12 miler.

From now on I'll wear long lycra leg coverings, legs are heavily sun tanned from above the knee to ankle through wearing cycling shorts while the rest of them are whiter!

Got plenty of casual shorts. The lycra leggings will be going over the cycling shorts for extra padding so the best of both worlds

Had a good weekend riding, 45 miles Saturday, 56 yesterday. The bike is a 2016 Litespeed T3. I bought it used a couple of months ago, stripped it to the frameset, built it back up with a new BB, headset bearings, and Ultegra 8050 groupset. Some of the decals were scuffed up, so I removed them all, and refinished the frame. I like the clean look, and plan to keep it that way.

I've used the 510 since it first came out. But I recently bought the 515 because it has a
phone app that makes a loud tone when a car is detected. The head unit tone from the 510 is too quiet for me to hear when riding at speed. Not so with the 515 app. There's no missing that tone.

Heat index of 105F here tomorrow, so I'll be inside as well. Had planned on a low effort day anyway.

Could well be, didn't inspect it that close but yes looking at the ten speed pedal gearing it probably is.

Here's my baby. Been at my LBS since April due to a faulty brake lever fluid reservoir leak. Shimano's ETA on the part was mid-July but still no word.

Really loved the look of tan walls but Vittorias don't come in tan walled tubeless so had to keep it all black when I got my new wheels.

Can't wait to get her back and go flying down our lovely LA mountains.

The bike/part shortages I've been hassling my (cycling team affiliated) shop for a Tarmac SL7 for a bit, can't get one for awhile...

Yup, it sucks big time

Nice ride tho! I started out with an Allez as well switching to a carbon bike is going to be a huge upgrade and the SL7 is super sexy, great choice.

Thanks! The Allez Sprint frames really are awesome bikes, hyper stiff. I've actually had 2 Tarmacs, my most recent was sold pre-pandemic to replace it with a disc brake bike finally, but I dragged my feet and here we are. This Allez was really supposed to be a criterium race bike that I was okay crashing I don't mind it as my every day bike now though, it's harsher but I'm very particular about cockpit and fit so it's comfortable enough for me. It's also okay weight wise, even with a modest mechanical build.

Man those crit races getso crazy lol i'm always seeing people I know post crazy accidents. Honestly anything Specialized makes is great. How are you liking that power meter? Did you have to change your BB to fit that? Always wanted one but modifying bikes is way too confusing for me.
