Considering 535i Larger Turbo

I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on getting a 2013 535i xdrive. I plan on getting a Pure stage 2 kit right off the bat, although I haven't seen a lot of info on putting them in the 5 series. Is it much different than a 335, procedure wise? I would have thought there would be more working room in a 535 than in a 335 or 135. I know the Xdrive makes it more complicated, but I have seen at least of few 335 xdrives with larger turbos than stock. Anyways, I was hoping to see if someone on here has experience doing the swap

335 is honestly a bit easier, have done and seen both done.

xDrive just makes the job suck bigtime, and take a whole lot longer. on xDrive vehicles the engine gets supported from a cross bridge above and the whole front drive and subframe gets dropped down to make the room.

Get a RWD car if at all possible, they drive a lot nicer and are easier to work on and keep up with less shit to wear out.

Well, the main reason I plan to get it is because of the AWD. I would probably go with something else if RWD was an option. If I had a 2 post lift I would be more confident about dropping the drivetrain by myself, with my scissor lift it is going to be a bit harder. Stuck, I saw you had a kind of write up for this, do you have any pictures of dropping the subframe?

Wow, that really does look rough. I can see why removing the manifold takes so much longer than switching out the turbo compressor side

Following this thread! I have been thinking about doing the same thing with my 11 535.

This turbo setup should work with Bootmod3 tune?

Stock turbo with supporting mods and tune should get you near 350-375 RWHP, with Pure Stage 2, around 450 - 500 RWHP. I will have my car back on the dyno in the fall when ambient temps are lower. I dyno'd last fall at 445HP/498 Ft/Lb but I have a better tune and a proper inlet now.
