Interior Trim Wrap

The new 535i I just picked up has some scratches in a few parts of the trim near the center console. and I'm not the biggest fan of the aluminum hex trim with the all black interior. So I've been thinking about changing it up..

I've seen some really great looking interior trim wraps done before but I can't decide what to go with.

The car is Alpine White, M Sport, black Dakota leather interior.

I'm debating between the glossy black carbon fiber (similar to the M performance interior package), brushed black aluminum, or maybe a dark brown matte wood finish.

I like the idea of CF but I want it to stay classy and not too street racey...

Brushed aluminum

Dark brown matte wood

CF, actually kind of like the matte black center console.

Any advice for a confused lad?

Personally, I like #1, then #2. For some reason I've never been a fan of CF.

Matte dark wood is cool. The rest is overplayed a little and glossy trim shows dust like a mother.

May be you can find matte black or ash wood color? Those looks nicer than brown on a black interior. If your interior was beige then brown matte wood would look sweet.

Carbon, Aluminum... that looks nice in M sport cloth alcantara interior I think, as materials match the lightweight motorsport theme. For more luxury leather stuff, go with a cool matte wood look.

Dark matte wood looks great, I have Oyster on Anthracite and its a tad boring that would class it up a lot

+1 for Brushed Black. I had it wrapped in my E90 and loved the look.

Thanks for the input.

I honestly feel like I'd be happy with any of these, and on the bright side, I can always take it off!

That black brushed aluminum looks awesome against the color of your seats!

I had CF wrap before the actual CF. Here are some pictures.
I also ceramic coated the CF parts so they haven't scratched to date.

Before

After

Here is the center with CF and brushed steel wrap. I've rewrapped the ugly looking part already so it looks good now.

Sexy! This definitely helps a ton. The wrap you used on the dash wasn't high gloss right?

The CF wrap is 3M CA-421 DI-NOC BLACK CARBON FIBER.

The brushed is VViViD Black Brushed Steel.

My F10 535i. Got rid of that old man wood. Tried to replicate M5 interior trim. Did this myself about 3 months ago. Makes a big difference to interior.

^^ that looks great

Here is my attempt last night at wrapping my center console piece. Pics make it look worse but it is not perfect in real life either. I am going to redo it and I bought a lighter looking carbon fibre as well.

Anybody got any tips ?

What vinyl did you use for the center console and dash? It looks great. Also the where did you find the m perf badge? Looks great.

I'm now leaning towards high gloss carbon fiber and piano black...

I can't say for sure but from the pictures it looks like cheap vinyl. Good vinyl is flexible and workable and yours looks like its cracking. Also if you weren't already, use a heat gun or a hair dryer to soften it.

yes I think you are right. I bought a different brand and color for the door trim and dash trim and it wrapped so easy and looks really good. I believe this vinyl is too thick and not bendable.

My advice is not the heat and stretch. Cold stretch works better and when you heat it, it will shrink back. If you heat and stretch, it will fail later and cause fingering. And use quality wrap. Vivid and 3M is what I use.

Carbon is way too played out IMO and frankly cheapens the interior. I’ve seen some that do look good but it was a low gloss/matte real carbon trim. If you are looking to keep things classy and tasteful, I’ve always thought the 3M ebony wood grain or something like it would look nice.

I really like the look of that too, however reading the comments on Amazon one fellow mentioned it was too thick for car interiors. I guess that means it wasn't flexible enough?
