I am getting a weird dip in RPM's after start-Up. Happens about 50% of the time. I thought it might have been worn/foiled spark plugs as I was just over 60K and didn't change them yet. I finally got time to do my spark plugs today, process went smooth. Car definitely feels livelier and is pulling nice, but I am still getting the occasional RPM dip. Any ideas? Could it be a bad coil? Thanks.

Interesting. I had my fuel pump recall done last Fall, but this problem started within the last month. Wondering if it could be a coil that is going bad?

all of the 35i's I've had do this. BMW dealer told me it was normal with my first, haven't worried about it since. My X3 has an m-sport exhaust and lopes alot during cold start. My 535 lopes like my cammed evo sometimes during cold starts. ( i kinda like it lol )

Definitely common with 535s. It is worse if you keep open the valves with quad exhaust.

I am noticing the same with my 2013 535i with over 80,000 miles. I change the plugs out about 25,00 miles ago. It has this weird rpm dip when i first start her up in the morning but car drives normal. Before this it started to at 1200 RPM and then drop about 30 seconds later to about 900-1000 RPM which I think is normal I guess. But now it dip first then level off.

My issue ended up being a bad valvetronic motor.
