My question relates to your posting because I added the AppleCare to which I don't see the value in because AMEX automatically covers the product for 120 days for damage, defects, and/or theft protection and extends the original warranty after for an equivalent of one year after Apples one year warranty wears off all at no additional cost.

I knee jerked on the AppleCare purchase because my IP6 was replaced 6x by Apple under warranty due to defects...ugh. I'm thinking of revising my purchase and taking AppleCare off because it almost seems redundant.
Was the warranty replacement within 1 year? That would be covered in the basic warranty. I've had phones replaced under warranty as well without apple care and even a watch that was out of warranty and got a free upgrade to series 1 so now I can run watch os 5. I was thinking of getting theft and loss coverage actually since the claims process might be easier, but I could just get insurance through my carrier after 90 days and pay month to month. I've never done Apple Care in the past and haven't had any issue that Apple didn't cover so I'm on the fence.

Yeah I do every other year. As I mentioned earlier, I spend 2.5hrs a day on the train so any phone I have gets a TON of use. I haven't purchased a home computer since 2008.

I got my Xs Max yesterday and I love it. I don't see how much more evolution can take place after this so I believe I'll have this one for a bit longer than my current interval. What's next? Screen on both sides of the phone?

I was almost going to get a new phone today. Luckily when my current X fell out of my pocket and I ran over it with the lawn mower... only the case got destroyed. Luckily the phone landed almost perfectly flat.

Apple is pretty good about taking care of their regulars because they know we'll be back. My warranty replacements were well out of the coverage period but the defects were noted and the issues were well documented. I even bricked the last one by accident and Apple replaced that one last year with a reman'd unit at no cost to me.

AppleCare makes sense if someone is notoriously careless with products and lives near an Apple store, otherwise it's not really a value imo. The claims process is easier but everything else is extra fluff. I'm taking it off of my order...

I caved in and bought one...though it was an iphone 8, 256gb unlocked. lol Space gray...gorgeous phone. Bought it with the SE so they'd both have 11.4.1 and I can switch between them. Honestly should have bought the SE last summer when it was still on 10.3.3. I've been reading the battery life on the 11 is shit and from what I've seen leaving it in airplane mode, so far it is. 8 is still too damn big.

so I have had the XSmax sitting on my counter in my kitchen for a week now and still have not set it up lol. I have sprint and I guess when you transfer from the 8+ to the Max you need a different sim card! so lame, went to order the sim card but all my stores are out of the one I need I guess. I told my phone lady to just switch me over to verizon so I dont have to deal with this. I am hoping to have this thing set up and using by tomorrow or wednesday.

so if your with sprint you may want to look into the "sim gate" that is going on with moving to the max

got the 256gb unlocked space gray, looks sharp

All else aside, I genuinely have no idea why anyone would choose Sprint as a carrier. It is the worst service known to man with the price of T-Mobile (which is significantly better).

So I was hoping that the XS would be my go to device for taking pictures on short trips/vacations. Went to NY for a few days this past weekend and noticed it doesn’t have that great of a camera. Nighttime pictures are noisy and daytime pictures are okay as long as the object is not moving (or you’re not moving). Also video quality could be better for such an expensive device. Deciding if I should return it and continue using my 6S.

I don't have an XS but I've been reading that there are issues with charging the phone. How pervasive is that problem?

Not at all. It's a simple software bug that impacts some older iPhones too. Will be fixed in a software update (probably shortly). Wireless charge has zero issues and even wired won't have an issue if you just tap the screen on and try again.

I get it for free thats why I am with sprint. Business plan been on there for 15 years but we also have verizon plans with some other business so Im having my phone lady switch me over, and yes sprint was not always the best but it was never too bad in my area where I live

Is anyone having issues getting used to the new device and the oS? I've scheduled a Genius Bar tutorial because getting used to this thing coming from the 6 comes with a steep learning curve.

I came from a 6 and don't find the OS hard to learn at all. Pretty intuitive.

Well this depends WHICH charging issue you're talking about. The new iPhones and iOS 12 are a collective shit show. As usual with Apple.

And to say wireless charging has zero issues is a stretch, when the technology itself is flawed. Also how long does it take to charge that new iPhone again?

I went to the ATT store during lunch to play with the new XS Max. It's a pretty nice phone and I will probably upgrade from my 8 Plus. I use the phone a lot and the extra screen is a plus.

I have to make a trip to Apple store to get it - I usually pay for the unlocked version.

No clue wha you’re talking about. iOS 12 has universally great reviews on new devices and especially older ones. Smooth, fast, stable, and secure.

12.0.1 just addressed all charging issues because Apple actually supports their devices and fixes bugs.

Stop, acting like Android phones have no bugs and are supported.

I’ve owned them...night and day difference with Apple. Far, far better.

That literally sounds like you read the day 1 reviews, and ignored everything after.

When did i say anything about Android having zero issues? That's what you fanboys do, distract with nonsense. You think Apple fixing bugs is one of their fortes? They are in-fact notorious for avoiding issues and trying to sweep things under the rug, never giving out info, and IF it's an issue they decide is too bad to ignore, they'll fix it a couple of updates later.

I've owned them to, I have an iPhone right now. I've worked in IT/Tech for a long time. I've repaired hundreds of iPhones and iPads. I never even said iPhones were bad phones, but they are boring as hell and Apple QA has been going down and down. If you even deny that you have some more reading to do.

Android phones are just so much more fun. Everybody with an Apple phone literally has the same damn phone. It's so boring. Nothing fun about getting a new iPhone. Just my opinion.

People act like their launching rockets with their handheld, they are all the same shit, and we do the same monotonous tasks on them all.

Too long of a reply couldn't read it all, but who cares about reviews? Lol we use the phone, it's OS, and it works. Enough said.

From someone who tried Android, and still battles with an LG tablet...
