DPF reset possible with bimmercode or bimmerlink?
Hi,
I've got a 525d F11 on 110k miles, DPF is in good state looking at the numbers on bimmertool, but I'm getting error code, 244800 Info - Particulate filter system: Limited residual running distance of the particulate filter available From research this is a code that comes up due to mileage and expected life of the DPF, Is there a way to reset the dpf to make it think new dpf installed via bimmercode/bimmerlink? I dont have/haven't used ISTA before, thats what's usually coming up in forums. TIA |

Mines just over 170k (mls) 3.0d functioning as it should, back pressures etc all good too. They have expected life cycle of 250kms (obviously mines well over this).
I would not advise just resetting it, although functioning properly it will have a lovely collection of ash inside and over time will become more restrictive and distance between regens. Im actually going to be removing mine this week to clean and remove the ash.......then it'll be reset, that is the right way to deal this one - (theres a couple of good vids out there on what to use and how to clean it). If you're not up for doing it then the code will be in the background, should be able to check ash content though. Dont just tell the car its got a new dpf when its got a good load of ash collected. Probably not the answer your looking for but its the right way to preserve the barge. |

This is an advisory based (I believe) on mileage. Can be reset using ISTA.

I don't see a problem resetting it if the error annoys you, but that won't make the ash magically go away of course.
Otherwise, you can also do that with bimmertool - service functions -> engine. Last edited by Breach; 10-03-2024 at 05:04 AM.. |

This is just a standard fault code that will appear based on mileage. It is not actually anything wrong. You can ignore it.
Here in Norway we actually get a fault at vehicle inspection if this fault code is present. |
