High Mile F10 N55 Thread

What's up everyone, from what i have seen, Hoa probably has the highest Mile F10 n55 that I'm aware of around 340,000 miles, which is awesome!!

but is there anyone else rocking a high mile F10? Post up What maintenance you have had to do to get that far and at what mileage did you do it? how long have you owned it? what year was it built?

just recently saw this 290,000mile F10 for sale on car gurus and it got me thinking, how many High-Mile F10's are out there still!

https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...6/NONE/DEFAULT

would love to see a compiled, comprehensive thread for the F10's out there with higher miles and what's the cost been to take it to 100k, 200k, 300k, and if anyone can make it to 500k miles, that would be pretty sweet to see!!

this could be a valuable place to come and see what all people have had to replace, and at what times, and what costs, did you DIY? dealership? or indy shop?

Post em up!! looking forward to seeing where everyone is at.

2014 535i. Base/ZF8, RWD. 173,000 miles.

Replaced the motor mounts, and had the transmission serviced during the summer after some road debris busted a hole in the bottom of the transmission pan.

Other than those two things, the only other repairs have been minor: lower passenger thrust arm, washer fluid reservoir pump. And of course the plastic charge pipe, water hose flange, and a new interior driver door handle piece (soft rubber crumbling and whatnot.)

Typical maintenance like fluid changes, plugs and coils, etc. My water pump and t-stat are probably coming due soon. I have no real leaks.

Stage 1 BM3 tune with intake. Runs perfectly. Set of Blizzaks during the winter here in CO and I've never had a problem. Owned it for 3.5 years - purchased it with 119,000 miles in Texas.

Great Thread Topic!

I'm only @ 83k miles on my (F10) so I'll post history when I get to 100k.

The link for that 2011 535i for sale made me shake my head and chuckle a bit.
290k miles / 3 Accidents / 4 Owners:
Asking Price: $10,999 ($10,360 above market value)

Awesome Thread! I just hit 105,000k Miles and mainly are highway, NGK Spark Plugs and Dinan Coil packs are holding up very well after 2 long trips and over 4k miles! (Replaced them at around 100k) Replaced all the pads again, (Wear sensor tripped and that was the only thing that needed replacement) (Rear sensor) so ended up replacing all the pads and both wear sensors, (about 22k miles on the previous set of pads) Oil is due and not just engine oil, been holding off on the Trans fluid and pan, and Diff service due to being very busy with life. Have a pump and tools and the adapter ready for the fluid exchange, Very excited that it will finally be time this weekend!

- Belt tensioner and Pulley replaced and VTT Crank guard at 101k

Things I am keeping a keen eye on, Valve cover, Oil Cooler and OFHG, and Oil Pan.

Water Pump is running like a champ so I am monitoring that with Bimmerlink, Planning a Coolant flush and want to stay true to my 2016 and buy a OEM all Metal WP with a Tstat, next on my to do list.

Only 91 Shell Vpower has been religiously put, and if I am anywhere else, its Chevron Premium.

2012 Xdrive 535i
157,952mi

Only typical maintenance, valve cover due to pcv, Oil changes, Trans fluid, transfercase fluid, and diff fluid.

Had driver axle boot tear so had to replace the axle, Snapped a rear axle being an idiot and playing around with Xdelete. She has some bumps and bruises and makes noises occasionally but so far been very reliable and damn fun to drive.

MHD stage 2, XHP stage 3, Xdelete active, VRSF Charge pipe, Catless downpipe, and full open exhaust

well, it looks like i will be joining the Higher mile F10 club on Monday!! super excited, I found a 2014 535i m-sport with the rare 6-speed manual, Carbon Black over cinnamon w/comfort seats, HK, adaptive LED, Climate package, etc. pretty well optioned and sitting at 109,500 miles. i will be the 3rd owner, has lots of service records, and has some aftermarket goodies to go with it.

bought a one way plane ticket and ill be driving her back home over 1200 miles

will post pictures up after i get it home and all detailed, excited to be getting into a LCI f10 chassis, been reading a lot about these cars, seen lots of great things, would love to take mine well over 250,000 miles if i can

first order of maintenance i will be doing in the first couple months is water pump and t-stat. it is still on the original which from what I've read is on borrowed time...

it is coming with a AR design catted downpipe, and a valved exhaust which i am excited to throw on as well. they have also done the NBT Evo upgrade so it has Apple carplay.

Congrats on the MT find! I look forward to seeing some pics!
Good luck with the purchase and have a safe return trip home (and enjoy the hell out of it on the drive)

As with any used car purchase, I'd recommend exchanging ALL fluids & filters (engine oil/filter, tranny oil/filter, brake fluid, differential(s) oil / transfer case, coolant, etc...) That way you'll establish a baseline for future service/pm needs as well as you'll know you have the proper fluids.

Re: water pump & tstat - I agree @ "borrowed time". While you're doing the work, consider replacing the ground bolt to an aftermarket stainless steel one. Also, consider replacing the plastic coolant hose flange (aka the "mickey mouse" flange) with an aftermarket billet aluminum one.

If it hasn't been done already, it's also a good time to replace accessory belt/tensioner/pulley "while you're there". Check out aftermarket crank seal guards too.

Again, congrats!

Hey thank you!! I'm definitely excited for the drive home, i also forgot to mention that it has the MHD relocated CAI, and a MHD stage 1 tune on it. and a aftermarket

I appreciate the advice! will def be doing the mickey ears with everything, haven't heard about the ground bolt you mentioned, i will have to look into that! the OFH gasket was just replaced in April of 2024, with a new belt and crank guard, unsure if the pulleys were done.. will have to take a look once i get it.

i also agree with fresh fluids on everything, having a solid baseline is vital IMO to knowing the health from day one moving forward Worth the $300ish dollars in fluids and filters for peace of mind! fantastic advice.

not to start an oil thread, but what oil are you guys using on the N55 with higher miles? i am coming from a B58, and like using the Ultra Platinum 5w-30 over the factory 0w-20 group 3 oils, big believer in the group 4 and group 5 base oils personally. and 0w-20 just scars me a bit for "spirited" driving style and its only $30 for 5qts at my local Walmart and they keep it on the shelf.

as far as the coolant, trans and diff oils, have you all strayed from OEM on those? or do you keep to OEM specs on those aux fluids?

i will probably start a build thread on my profile to document all the process and updates for the car. Not sure how many LCI manuals are even in existence in North America.

Not meaning to sidetrack this thread as I think this is a GREAT post topic to have.

So, briefly, here's info on the WP ground bolt issue.

And I use LL-01 5w-40 oil (my OA reports have been better vs 0w-# oils)

I was going to post the same video... FCP really promotes changing that bolt out.

On our N55 X5, I also use 5w-40... mostly Castrol Euro, but occasionally Liqumoly depending on the urge.

Blackstone analysis says ok to move up to an 8,500 mile OCI from the previous 6,500 one. Goal is for 10k intervals, but turbos scare me, so don't mind being conservative on this.

Well, i got her back home in one piece so i consider that a win!

i drove about 17 hours back in 1 go, cant recommend that long of a trip with no breaks by yourself, the stretch from midnight to 3am when i arrived home was brutal!! only stopped 3 times for gas and bathroom breaks.

i averaged about 83mph according to iDrive over my 1,200 miles from Philadelphia to Kansas city, avoiding all toll roads and got around 27.1mpg in eco pro mode! not terrible given the higher speed i suppose

she rides very smooth, and cruises nicely, very comfortable, coolant temps stayed between 195-220f the entire way.

i have not had time to do any detailing or clean it up, I am eager to get a good bassline with maintenance and a full 2 stage correction before winter hits.

but here she is! my 2014 Carbon black over Cinnamon, 535i M sport with the six speed transmission.

it came with quite a bit of extras, factory cat, AR design catted DP, replacement shocks (F&R), the sound system had been upgraded to all Bavsound, sounds very nice, most notably the previous owner had a Escort 9500ci integrated into the front and rear bumpers, which really came in handy on my trip back! the exhaust sounds fantastic, and the valved exhaust really helps with drone on highway. overall very happy with my purchase!

ill be starting an official build thread to document my overall journey and will chime back in with all maintenance items on this thread to keep it alive! everyone else please do the same! would love to see everyone's journey as well.

Hey guys, I picked up a 2014 M-sport 6 speed 535i very similar to the above recently in carbon black as well. This one is at 167k miles. I purchased the vehicle for $8k with summers and winters and believe it skews fair to slightly higher than comps in the market today but much better pricing than the 290k mile car gurus listing above. I figured I can't lose much value at this point on a unique big bodied 6 speed, and won't feel bad putting miles on it either.

I think the value add / de-risk here was that the PO is the orginal owner and an aging gentleman enthusiast who was obsessive about maintenance and documentation. He even tracked every fuel-up. It seemed he addressed most of the major N55 issues and has been up to date on consumables, along with about 1" of receipts on professional maintenance including:

- valve cover gasket
- water pump
- oil gasket

I will work on the Mickey mouse coupling, and potentially add a crank nose retainer before going down the path of suspension / power modifications as this vehicle needs a bit of theater.
