F10 vs F10 M sport steering software differences?
Someone had mentioned to me that the normal F10's ( NON M-sport) have different steering software than the M sport cars. I am assuming different steering feel. Anyone here can confirm this? or do they share the same steering software

Not sure about software @ MSport vs Non-MSport
The xdrive F10s have hydraulic steering whereas the RWD F10s are EPS (electric power steering). Maybe that's what your friend was referring to? |

That what I thought at first, but then he mentioned it specifically being software changes for steering for NON M cars for lighter feel, vs M pack cars with diff software for heavier feel, even in their respected modes, comfort/sport/spot+

I would suspect that the answer is 'No' @ steering software differences between M-Sport Packages vs Non M-Sport. The reason being is that the vast majority of all M-Sport options are purely aesthetic and not performance based. (a few exceptions exist, like Sport Suspension, Sport Brakes, Dynamic Handling Package). FWIW, I love my M Sport Steering wheel (It's nice and bulky). Paddle shifters are "meh", imo. Good Luck! If you ever get a conclusive answer I hope you update the thread. I'm a bit curious about this one myself. |

On the F10 you can have either electric or hydraulic steering. Below is the breakdown:
Electric: 528i 528i xdrive 535i 550i Hydraulic: 535i xdrive 550i xdrive M5 Reason why these 3 models have hydraulic steering is because the electric rack needs more space and BMW was unable to accommodate for it in cars which have a large engine and/or xdrive hardware taking up space. There is no difference between Msport and non Msport models in terms of steering software etc. Msport models are purely asthetic except for the Msport suspension which ONLY the non-xdrive models got. On the F10 generation there was no concept of Sport or MSport brakes etc. On the LCI models, BMW made some improvement to the steering across all models. Not sure if these improvements were purely software or some hardware changed as well. Last edited by BMW FOREVER; 12-13-2024 at 07:15 PM.. |
