Left side door handle melted

I am in dire need of replacing the side door handle. Found a replacement on amazon but it seems like a pain to install. Have you had this issue? and how much did you get someone to install it for you?

I would imagine an hour for labor. I advise contacting your local automotive upholstery shop.

Not hard, just time consuming. I'd say about 30-45 min. Plenty of videos on how to remove an f10 door panel on YouTube. Just some screws on the back of the panel and the handle comes right off

I have the same issue myself. I've considered buying the part to fix it but I've got other things on the list that need more attention. Lol

I recently purchased a replacement and installed in my driveway. You will need a few torx bits, trim tools and some patience. It took about 1 hour being super careful not to break anything (especially the thin accent lighting pieces under door trim). There are plenty of good YouTube videos if your nervous. It's a great DIY.

Rather than deal with Amazon Chineesium, I bought used OEM on Ebay for the same part.

Good luck.

The soft touch stuff is deemed to rot sooner or later.
How are the Chineese replacements from Aliexpress, ebay and co.?

I have a similar problem. It is in both door handles. The rest of the upholstery in the car is in excellent condition. I have read that Chinese substitutes are of excellent quality and I think I will be tempted to buy them. By the way, I have the upholstery code LCOU. What color is this in the BMW range? I have a 2014 f11.

Go with the black set. Even if you buy right color one it's not going to match 100%. Replaced melted oyster handles with black ones and happy with them

Do you have an example of such a color combination? I wonder if the interior of the car would not lose visually with such a combination of colors.

Is your interior all oyster, or a combination of black & oyster, like my old 2012 535i? If the later, the black accents should look like factory.

There is plenty of black surfaces inside so it matches

Mine is pretty sticky and breaking apart. I was told to brush car paint clear coat for temporary fix. I did and it it's working great.

This is exactly the color combination I have. An additional black accent is the element with lamps illuminating the car's interior.

It actually looks very sensible, especially since I have black accents. I will think about this color scheme and convince my wife to go for it 😉

The cost of purchasing a replacement is so low that I will do it right away.

I finally ordered a complete set of replacement parts for the driver and passenger doors in the original color, i.e. oyster. Today the first part arrived, namely the passenger door handle. I am very positively surprised by the quality of this handle and the perfect color selection. It is basically indistinguishable from the original. I will present the whole thing to you when all the parts arrive.

I installed this door handle on the passenger side. It fits perfectly in my opinion. It is worth screwing the mounting screws into the handle before final assembly, so that you do not have a problem with simply screwing the screws in when you are already assembling the entire door. I cleaned the plastic element from the window closing and opening button with isopropanol. In one of the photos you can see it half-cleaned. I can recommend this replacement with a clear conscience.

Today, the last element for the renovation of the driver's door handle arrived. The product itself, just like the previous one, is of excellent quality. The color matches perfectly. However, the assembly itself is definitely more laborious. You have to gently drill out the factory-melted round plastic elements and remove two rectangular elements. All work must be done gently so as not to damage anything. The set includes tools and screws that need to be screwed into the places of the previously removed plastic connecting elements. After assembly, the whole thing looks quite good in my opinion.

Looks really good. Where did you purchase driver door arm rest? I found few online but none of them come with hardware

I found it on AliExpress. I chose the most expensive one that was available and had the best reviews. It was still ridiculous money. Basically, each of the elements that I installed in both doors was bought from a different seller. I was looking for the best quality product. I am very pleased with the effect. In real life, it is indistinguishable from the original. Even the attachment of the entire side panel and the handle on the driver's side seems to be better because they are screwed on with the provided screws and not with welded plastic as it is done at the factory. Everything is solidly fitted. It does not make any disturbing sounds when pulled. I definitely recommend such a car refresh.
