Need help with cleaning engine
Hey guys I have a 2011 535i with the n55 motor. No shock my valve cover is seeping out a bit of oil. I am planning on replacing soon but I wanna see how much oil is really coming out by cleaning it off first.
Can I just pressure wash the side of the valve cover, my engine bay is kinda dusty and could use a detail so I figured if I cleaning the engine bay why not try to spray the oil residue too. Is this safe? Can the alternator get any wet? Please give me advice. |

Prob too late but I cleaned my 550i using Awesome Cleaner (dollar store). Sprayed the cleaner all under hood and then pressure washed using a wider spray pattern nozzle and just quickly went over everything. All came nice and clean.
On your 535, I would try to cover the alternator with some plastic or avoid that area. I then blew off any residual water with my leaf blower and then started and drove for a bit to dry everything out. |
