Wheels Question Please - 17" OEM as snow wheels? Aftermarket 19" wheels?
If I order an F 10 528i with those rather underwhelming 17-inch wheels (style 327), could I later use the 17" rims for snow tires? Then I could get some stunning aftermarket 19-inch wheels and A/S tires (I don't think I want performance tires) and let Winter and salt beat up on the 17" rims. I'll need snows here in Ontario anyway. Also, does anyone think that 19 inchers (style 331 like those beauties on the 550i) would be "poseur-ish" on a 528i? And would they be unsuited to the suspension etc. on the base car? A 528i is all I really need (and can afford at this point) but I don't want to ruin the ride or handling with unsuitable wheels/tires just for looks. 18's would be fine really, but the 19's look so sexy!! By the way, I know I can get 18's with the Sport Package quite inexpensively, but that includes the black high-gloss shadow line and I much prefer bright metal there...I reckon the C-pillar and Hoffmeister thingy look much cooler with brushed aluminum trim round them. Thanks.

You must be real connected, because I can't get those wheels cheaply! I too like the chrome surround on the windows, so I elected to go non sport and thought I'd just buy those hot wheels as an option. The price WHOLESALE just on the rims is $2150.... and I can't get them for 6 months because every single piece made for the F10 is currently being allocated to meet production. Tire Rack DOES NOT have those rims yet. When I'm done buying tires and mounting, I'm in well over $3k, and I don't get multi contour seats and the supposed amazing adjustable ride, etc. etc... The sport package is only $2200 with everything!
And no, I don't think it would poseur-ish for a second. The suspension on your future car and my 535 are the same, and they're an option so it wouldn't affect ride. They are staggered on the sport, so you can't rotate... another expense to consider. Learn from my mistake. Get the sport package and buy some old rims for your winter driving. The F10 isn't a small car so I think that 19" probably looks great and appropriate on the car. Definitely not "poser"ish, especially if it's a BMW OEM wheel.
Check this thread for links to pics of 19" OEM wheels on the F10: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=365419
