Wanted- F10/ F11 2TB/ Sports Auto Gear Lever

Hi All,

Long shot I know, but I’m looking to upgrade my standard 205 Auto Gear Lever for the 2TB one (slightly bigger and leather gaiter as opposed to the black plastic).

Thanks.

Ebay is your friend. It's the whole shift unit that you replace, not just the lever - as such it's part number 61317950397 (that's only the latest part number, there have been a lot of older ones).
Have you also done the paddles? I did mine recently, very easy mod.

I have one sat in a box somewhere, I vaguely remember the leather having a few marks but nothing major. I'll get some pics

Thanks, I looked on eBay and found a couple but a search of the part number produced a few more.

Not done paddles yet but it’s on the to-do list as well as the switch to alter the driving modes. Is it possible to add just the paddles to the basic steering wheel or is a new wheel with the paddles required? Any info, advice, guides will be much appreciated.

My 525d SE came with the basic steering wheel; you need to buy a M Sport steering wheel complete with the paddles, multi-function switches and the airbag (the ordinary airbag won't fit the M Sport Wheel) - i.e. a complete wheel.
The swap is very quick, and coding is ok - once you're familiar with coding.

Mine is an M Sport so have the airbag worst case. I do keep an eye out for the pre-lci m sport wheels but they still go for good money.

I’d like to retrofit full 2TB (Driving Mode Switch and Shifter) with an LCI wheel with paddles.

Anyone done that?

The LCI wheel is a straight swap for any of the other wheels - same connectors (incl airbag connector) so all good. So buy one complete, install it, code it for the paddles / sport gearbox, and you're done.
Do you have any driving mode switch at the moment? I assume you're looking to get Sport+ with the new set-up? You get this by adding the coding, not swapping the shifter. The shifter functionality is the same, you just get a different style shifter.

Thanks for the reply.

No Driving Mode Switch at the moment. I’m waiting for one to arrive that I’ve purchased on eBay. I’ve also bought a pre-LCI wheel with paddles at a good price so that will do for now.

I thought that was the case with the shifter, but I want it to look OE, like it’s always had 2TB from the factory so the right shifter will be key to that. It’s the last piece of the puzzle before fitting it all and coding.

Cheers.

If you need help with coding, just ask.

Hi All,

Just a quick note to say I took Brendan up on his offer of help with the coding after being let down by my local independent and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I fitted my new steering wheel and DEC switch and took a drive to Brendan’s for coding and they all work fantastically.

A quick and easy experience. Thanks again.

Thanks Ash, it was good to get the sports gearbox and paddles coded.
Just in case it helps anyone else, what I did was:
- Replaced option 205 in the vehicle build (VO or FA) with option 2TB.
- Coded this option to the EGS, GWS, Kombi and ICM modules.
- Edited the SZL module to make the paddles active (they were set to inactive).
Job done!

I hope you don't mind me joining in. I have installed the SAT shifter and coded the 2TB function and all good. However, I have added the function switch but can anyone tell me what coding I need to add? I can't find anything on this and wondered if extra wiring was required. Thanks.

There's a good read here on the DEC switch installation and coding:https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/f...-modes.685869/

Not sure which route Ash took to install his (earlier in this thread) but when I did the coding it all worked fine.

Do you have any functionality in the switch currently?
