As usual BMWs cheap parts the plastic fittings and the clamps will fail and cause major damage. You can change the fittings to brass and use fuel line clamps. You can order the hoses from ECPEURO because most likely they're starting to crack from the heat. A coworker waited to long and it cost him 4k to fix everything new alternator labor and parts. Its an easy fix
It should take about 1 hour

Old thread, but does anyone know if the air needs to be purged after this repair or not?

I'm having a coolant leak behind the water pump pulley I believe it's from water pump after inspecting with borescope. I want to fix it myself. Could anyone guide me what kind/type/size of screwdrivers and wrenches I need to do this. My car is 2011 BMW 550i. Torx Kit has different sizes, I'm not sure what size I needed to fix it. I'm planning to remove front bumper, radiator, radiator fan to access the water pump.

Thanks in advance.

You don't need to remove the front bumper or radiator, just the electric fan which comes straight up. You probably want to unbolt the power steering lines from the subframe and ziptie them out of the way. You will need a e-torx socket set. I think my water pump bolts were E12. I would change the thermostat for a lower 90 degree one and change the temperature sensor, belts and tensioner while you are in there.

Hello,

I just found your post and looking to change the coolant lines and also the oil lines to the turbo.

Did you have to take out the turbo and/or lift the engine?
