ambient light question
I have 2014 LCI 550 and according to bmw I should have ambient light installed. I do have the controllers on my hu. The problem is that even if I set the light on max I don't see anything different. My understanding is that there should be light at the door.
Now the question is how can I verify that I do have the light and it's working as it's supposed to ? Also what are my options as far as upgrade ? Thanks |

In my 2012 with the orange lighting and oyster interior the ambient lighting is quite dim; unless I turn the instrument lighting all the way up (I don't have the brightness control in the iDrive; it's pre-LCI). |

If you have the lighting it should be right under the door trim. Try turning up the brightness via the knob beside the headlight switch and via idrive. Also I believe there's two different ambient lighting packages

I checked my door card and I do see the light. I have the brightness all the way up and the light is barely visible. I tried both the orange and the which and both are very dim. My interior is mocha brown. Now the question is if that is the normal behavior or there is something wrong with my car.
Is there any OEM or aftermarket upgrade option ? |

The word dim is subjective, the lighting isn't meant to be bright.
Will it light up the interior door pull at night? No Can you see the light glow off your finger when you put it up to the light at night? If yes, that's about it. If you want an upgrade you can pull it apart and maybe find something that is brighter. |

They sell upgrade kits that you can install. My f10 has oyster interior and the lighting is pronounced because the leather is a lighter color. But on my f30 that I had the interior was black and the ambient lighting was very dim because of the color of the leather
