I was able to get it off. Because of the effort involved, I replaced the entire valve cover with the URO cover which can be bought for under 300 bucks and is the OEM maker. This deals with any issues with the PCV valve. Also replaced the spark plugs while I was there. One bolt on the URO cover wasn't fit properly but it is in the middle on top and seems at low risk to cause problems.

I was able to reach the pesky rear right bolt with a slim flex head ratchet, my E10 socket (which has a 3/8 socket attachment), a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter and a wobble 1/4" socket extension. One man job.

My crankcase was shockingly clean but I guess my prior Liqui-Moly Proline engine flush treatment and frequent oil changes every 6000 miles with Liqui-Moly Leichtlauf High Tech or Castrol EDGE 0w-40 really does keep the engine happy.

Hi,

Need help identifying the cylinder head cover that I guess is being referred to as the valve cover gasket for my f10. (c841731) Where can I get this in the UK as I intend to import to Kenya.

Hmm this might be a issue for those with 3rd party warranty...They will probably only want to cover the gasket and labor not the actual cover.

This job should be 200 to 300 dollars to be honest. A skilled mechanic should pull this off in or under 2 hours. I am getting my gasket replaced next month as it is leaking but I wonder if I should do the entire valve cover knowing issues related to pcv valve.

If it's on an n55 it shouldn't be that much different. The one I saw was this one:

This isn't meant to be rude at all, so don't take it that way, but if you need an f10 specific video then maybe you shouldn't do it. If you are one of those guys who are determined to figure things out and don't get frustrated or annoyed, and like learning, then go for it. If you need step by step then I wouldn't do it.

Vlam I have same situation with same car model. Im monitoring the pan oil leak but should attend to the valve cover (since it smells etc). What level of fix (gasket only, valve cover, CCVV?) did your independent shop do and what price range please?

I followed a 335 one, a bit different then my e90 328i I did valve cover on. Its all easy same stuff needs removed minus the cowl and such. 535i imo is easier then the 335 more room.
