I can average 40 on my 535d xdrive if I keep it relatively even on the freeway and under 75mph. The best tank I ever got was 42.1 on a tank driving from Denver to Salt Lake City in I70

I get about 21 MPG in my 13' 535i xDrive, commuting to Boston from the suburbs can be rough but it doesn't help that I can be lead-footed at times

Well, driving today from El Paso to Arlington, TX I got a hand calculated 32.5 at 85+. Not too shabby, IMHO!

2011 550xi M-sport, averages 14-15 mpg with mixed city and highway driving. Sport+ about 1/3 of the time. Things a guzzler.

Totally stock. I thought about modding for more power, but I'm totally satisfied with the stock hp. Also, reliability is more important to me than a few extra ponies that I really can't use anyway.

Wonder what changed over the years because both of them do what they are rated for on the window sticker. Any ideas what bmw changed when both engines are n55
Sorry I'm new here so I don't know how to reply to the form.

But believe it or not changing my engine and cabin filter made a huge difference in mpg. Before I use to fill every week and now I fill after week an half.
Plus buy them form FCPeuro website coz they send you replacement free for lifetime. ( haven't tried replacement yet but heard good things about it from friends)

2020 BMW M340i  [0.00]
2019 RAM 3500  [0.00]
2020 BMW X3  [0.00]
2016 BMW 550i  [0.00]
2000 Ford F450 7.3l ...  [0.00]
Stock 2016 550i xdrive get about 17-20mpg around town and 24.5mpg at 100mph with cruise on through several states on a multi thousand mile trip. Which is not bad considering the speed.

2011 BMW 335D with EGR delete 27-29mpg around town and 32.5mpg at 100mph cruise. Unless you drive the diesel at speeds below 80mph you wont see much above low 30's. Did do an economy run at the speed limit on flat interstate with no a/c and cool temps and reached 42mpg over 90 miles.

2011 BMW X5M 13 mpg around town 18 mpg at 80mph crusie, 9.5mpg at 70mph while towing. Never driven it for hundreds of miles at 100+ so no economy numbers there.

2000 Ford F-450 with tool bed and cherry picker 7.3L powerstroke weighs 12,600lbs by cat scales and is about 10 FT tall like its constantly towing a trailer. 9.1mpg city/highay crusing at 65mph or sitting in traffic, it really never seems to matter its about 8.5-9mpg

Is your 550 stock? I only get 15mpg on my everyday use averaging about 28mph. Long all highway trips at about 70mph I can get ~26-29mpg. I have a BMS stage 1 and noticed about a 1mpg difference versus stock.

I get about 13-15 mpg with mixed driving. 550i Bootmod3 stage 2 aggressive map with high flow catted downpipes, Shteigen exhaust and n63intake.com cold air intake. Doesn't matter if I am in comfort of sport+, the thing doesn't sip fuel.
