Noise from new Front Pads and Rotors

Indy recently replaced my front pads and rotors with OEM parts I bought from a dealer.

Driven several hundred miles, but have a stomach rumbling like sound at very slow speed / standstill when just about to stop or crawling (brake pedal not fully pressed).

Crunching, rumbling sound, similar to that when turning the steering wheel over a rough surface.

Wasn’t doing this before. Brake work fine. Pedal feels fine too.

Plan to go back to shop, but anyone know what I’m dealing with?

Thank you.

Did you bed in the brakes correctly? The sound you hear may be the pads on the rotor surface.

Didn't do anything in particular to bed them, but had them for a bit over two weeks now; should've bedded in by now, no?

There was a different high pitch whistle / squeal (as if the brakes were low) when new that has subsided, however.

This noise is different, as if they're not completely gripping. Braking power is fine.

drive it hard and brake hard in dry weather, see if it goes away, on a empty road of course and be safe. Think they need to bed in. lot of issues people have from funny noises in cars is from not using said cars properly, babying them too much...

My dealer has replaced the front brakes on both our 535i's and the brakes have never made a peep. I did nothing special other than brake gently for 50 miles or so.

Also worth noting, that all these OEM Brembos but bought from Brembo not from BMW for me at least were always shit, while direct BMW purchases were great and bite was great. I dunno if its the rotors or the pads, btw, but in my experience whenever I changed rotors for just brembo, not OEM - the brake feel was worse, subjectively. Never understood why...

My new pads and rotors are now squealing upon moderate breaking down from 40 mph!

Took to another shop which said nothing can be done, only to replace the pads and rotors again!?

Anyone ever get BMW to parts warranty pads and rotors? Installed at an indy, however.

Thanks.

BMW will parts warranty anything, regardless or whom installed it.

You'll need to schedule a service appointment with a service advisor at your local dealer with the specific complaint and authorize the diagnostic testing time. If the tech finds the parts defective you'll get them replaced free of charge, if he finds your Indy sucks you'll be on the hook for the diag at the least.

Strange question, but anyone know if any way to determine whether a brake squeal is coming from the front or back brakes? No way, right? Thanks in advance.

A tech worth his salt will have zero issue independently pinpointing which axle, corner brake squeal is emanating from. A qualified repair shop will have a system for diagnosing issues of that nature, like a ChassisEAR or a like product. Barring that...... someone riding in the back seat leaning out the window also gets the job done reasonably reliably.

How is brake noise from 5 months ago not rectified yet.

Thanks.

I'm asking if any way for me, myself to determine.

Car was at dealer for months; driveshaft amongst other items replaced.

Dealer also damaged a window and replaced it; month backorder from Germany.

Just got car back.
