Remap my F10 MY2012

Hello guys, after some research in my home country I have found out that the price for having my vehicle remapped is very high. This leads me thinking what actually makes the cost so high when all they do is actually flashing a modded software through the OBD.

My car is 520D and I desperately need to upgrade it, because I feel it very slow

So my question to you guys is if someone knows what is the exact method of remapping, is it something which I can do it on my own as long as I have the modded software. What equipment I will need and will it take a lot of time to go through? Any guidance will be much appreciated!

I had a look at it, however, it supports only petrol engines, mine is a N47 diesel engine. Any app with maps about a diesel engine?

Really? I find 184 hp/350 nm of torque more than adequate for European roads - and I regularly travel in the 140-160 km/h (86-100 mph) range. Your main concern should be a possible timing chain failure of the dreaded N47 engine...

Well the car around 250k kilometers and so far does not give any signs of possible timing chain failure. But yeah I am very concern about it lol

Do you have a full service history? Maybe it already has been changed. According to my BMW specialist friend, the timing chain and guides on the N47 should be changed at 200.000 km latest (better a lot before).

Yes, I do have and no it hasn't been changed. However, the car was driven mainly on long distances, which might have played a role in conserving the timing chain. I am aware tha the change should be performed at around 200k, but so far there aren't any symptoms tbh and I don't really want to get in that kind of repairs due to its complexity (not mentioning the cost)
