Price Check 2011 535xi
I am finally looking to get back into a BMW after being away a long time. Ran across a potential option and would like some feedback as I may purchase Monday.
2011 535xi Mileage: 66,809 Imperial Blue/Venetian Beige interior Cold Weather Package Premium Package Premium Package 2 Side/Top cameras BMW Apps Interior is in great shape. Exterior has quite a few light scratches all around and a little dent from looks like a license plate bolt on the bumper which is annoying but its an 8-year-old car so not sure I can expect much different. Price $16,500 includes tax/title/processing fee and interest. Basically 15k sticker. Also are these standard 5 series rims? Never seen them before. View post on imgur.com Thanks for all your help!

fat fingered the title yeah it's a 535 (edited original post). I need to update my location it's actually located in the northeast. Although I am moving back to Hawaii and taking it with me.
The wheels are 17's which makes me wonder if I should ask for OEM wheels to be put on prior to signing.

xdrive isnt needed in Hawaii but its the best deal for mileage year and options I can find within 200 miles of Northern VA. Just wasnt sure what to look out for here with the wheels I think should be replaced to actual 535 wheels, not sure the dealer will do that though.

Wait, so you are not in Hawaii?
Just something to think about with it being an xdrive vehicle would be that the cost of an oil pan gasket repair the price within double. You have a lot of extra labor with a lot of repairs. Plus if any of those extra components fail, those are added expenses compared to a standard car. So although it’s the cheapest car, it may end up costing significantly more in the long run. |

I just purchased a Lexus IS-F, and I will be putting my 2011 535i, two-owner, 71k miles, almost perfect condition 535i for sale. My car has almost perfect service history (I even had the rear diff bushing, and flex disc replaced after reading up a thread here on the forum). Brake fluid, sparkplugs, rear diff bushing, rear guibo, new intake filter, and cabin filters. In the last 2k miles I have put ER catless dp, VSRF charge pipe, MHD stage 2, 20" Forgestar F14s, had BimmerBrain update my dme, and latest Navi software update, and a couple of other things that I can't think of at the moment. I don't think there are any deep scratches, and had the PDR done when I purchased the vehicle last year.
Obviously it is not $16.5k, but I am not too far from what you will be paying for this car. If you like shoot me text at eight2eight.three2nine.five07six. But coming back to the question on hand, without seeing interior shots, and service history on the vehicle it's hard to put a price on it. It seems like a decent deal, but I stay away from Northern cars. Also, those wheels are not stock wheels. Last edited by harris69; 01-27-2019 at 02:20 PM.. |

You make a good point about the components and I have this nightmare feeling about this car ending up being a money pit. While it is optioned exactly how I would want it. The VIN of the vehicle is WBAFU7C55BC879248 and its service records are alright with no reported accidents. There is a fair amount of light scratches on the outside on pretty much all sides but the interior is immaculate. Runs and drive smooth with no noticeable pulls or any issues. I have had plenty of 3 series experience but both those cars were within warranty the whole time I owned them. Im just hesitant to jump into this and then be in a money pit when things fail. They tried to pressure me into a sale yesterday and got them down from 17,900 OTD to 16,500 but said I wanted to wait till Monday. So now I have been playing back and forth headgames with myself all day.

Personally I’d avoid an xdrive if you don’t need the all wheel drive.

As others suggested perhaps you could revise your selection RE: xdrive?
Not sure if this helps but here is my story. I purchased my 2011 528i RWD in Sep 2018 (mileage 120K km (or 74K miles) for 14,600CAD). Even though I live in Toronto Canada, I still decided to go with RWD. I wanted to have straight inline 6 cyl engine (no turbos etc to avoid extra maintenance). here in Canada, F10 with straight inline 6 cyl was only offered for 2011 year with RWD. I had to go to Montreal (500km away) to buy car there as I couldn't find anything suitable here in Toronto. PS Even during winter snow storms car performs good on winter tires so no regrets from my side on RWD choice (lighter car, better mileage than xdrive and less parts to worry about like transfer case etc) |

I done understand all the judgement about having a cold weather packaged xdrive car in Hawaii. Not easy to find good deals on used 5 series, and you don’t always get the options you want and/or need.
The xdrive will come in handy on rainy days. Since it rains so rarely here in Hawaii, the roads become extra oily when it does. Not the same as on the mainland. Plus Hawaii drivers are the worst on the planet, so you need all the help you can get when dodging them. |
