Replacing peeling buttons question

Hi guys,

So as many of you have known, the F10 has some serious problems with peeling buttons by the climate control area. I was able to replace the fan buttons easily. However, I would also like to replace the AC & heated seat buttons as well. Have any of you able to pull them out? I thought I should ask first before breaking something here.

Thanks

I'm in the same boat. Curious to see what others have done

Just out of curiosity...those that have this issue...do you touch your buttons often? I only ask because it is so rare for me to touch any of the IHKA buttons because I let the AUTO feature do its thing. It's only on rare occasions like the MAX button during a heat wave...or the REST feature when doing short errands when its really cold and the heated seat button. But the fan and temp speed buttons rarely get touched. Again, just curious to know...and not for any condemnation.

Here's a link to the TIS website that gives instructions on how to replace the IHKA buttons: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ols/1VnXKCffWs

Do note that there is a special removal tool (00 9 340) that facilitates button removal...but the tool can probably be easily fashioned from something you have around your home. Here's a pic below of the tool...and if you click the link above to the TIS website...there's more images:

Great information and I am 100% with you.

To me, it seems like, these are the folks who do not know how to use the "Auto" function of the unit. When necessary, touching the knobs to adjust the temp makes sense but not the actual buttons.

It is super rare occurrence if I ever had to touch any of the buttons.

Now, heated seat buttons, completely different story

I am curious about successful and cost effective button replacements for the fan buttons.

That is the one adjustment I make, especially for a long period where IHKA -> OFF_MEMORY was not coded on my car.

Generally, when I'm short tripping on work days to my commuter train station I have IHKA off, unless conditions (number of occupants, outdoor temp) causes my windows to fog. I'll then turn on one segment of manual fan at, say, 17C.

On longer/normal trips, then I'm full AUTO.

My driver's side fan button has one failed spot in the little fan logo. I'd replace it if it was easy.

Mine isn't all that bad. However, let say the heated seat buttons, which I use quite often, wherever you see the black color (aka painted) by itself and surrounded by lighter color (aka unpainted area), over time, that black color peeled off. The rest of the button is good but at night, the light goes through that area which is larger than usual which catches my attention easily and annoys the hell out of me.

I got the whole set of buttons for $57 shipped from ECStuning 100% authentic BMW parts. I replaced the fan buttons already with ease. Heated seat passenger side and the AC button are the next 2. I have similar problem with the trunk release button and the mirror folding button, both missing a tiny black dot but it drives me nut knowing that I can't replace those 2.

I know in my case the PO had worn the buttons out pretty badly. I'm in the process of fixing the little nuisance issues here and there.

Thanks for the info!
