You'll need two things, a good LED H7 bulb and H7 bulb adapters. I purchased these bulbs from amazon because they have cancelers and when installed they didnt throw errors, and some online reviews showed that they were the brightest- I just coded off the High beam bulb check using carly so they wouldn't flicker upon start up.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...UTF8&psc=1 You first want to flip up the cover from the top of the headlight and unscrew the circular dust cap. You need small hands for this, just unscrew the halogen bulb from the socket and remove it from the connector- it pops right out of the connector. Also a lot of people seem to believe that you need to unscrew those torx screws to remove the bulb but those screws aren't meant to be removed- theyre just stoppers and the adapter goes into the screws. Remove the bulb attachment from the LED bulb and get your new led bulb adapters and put them over the attachments from the bulbs, notice the placement of the adapters, as this is crucial, because if you put them on the other side you will only be able to get one side in (notice the picture with the old and new adapter side by side as this is the way you want it back in). I found it easier and had more room to put in the attachment and adapter in first, then slide in the bulb at the end because there is more room to work with. You'll have to fiddle around with it, but I found it was easier to super glue or epoxy the bulb adapter and connection together so they wouldn't move around when you tried to install it. Once in you just slide in the led bulb and plug it in (brown= positive, blue= negative) and there you have it. Last edited by marmit2017; 10-28-2018 at 01:43 PM.. |

This seems helpful and descriptive.
Also if you get these LED bulbs no coding is needed unless the 2-3 flicker at the beginning of every start up bothers you. I just used carly to code off voltage monitoring for high beams, and that worked |

The cornering (inner) lights are NOT the high beams. The high beams use the same bulb as the low beam.

Awesome! Thanks for the DIY. Will be attempting this over the coming weekend. I have the parts on order from Amazon.
Would it be possible and worth it to somehow code the cornering lights to come on with the Xenons and stay on? I wouldn't mind a wider light field while driving at night besides the look of 4 lit modules. |

@ Marmit2017 - Thanks for the DIY. Turned out to be an easy job with the right components. Took all of 10 mins. Now only if the cornering lights can be coded to stay on with the Xenons at night.

Unfortunately i am sending the LEDs back because of constant “cornering lights malfunction” error. I dont want to code out the check so replacing LEDs with Philips Diamond something 5k halogens for now and saving $50 in the process for next mod.

Hmm. I got the ones in the link and never had an issue with cornering light malfunction error. I only coded it off because it would flicker once or twice upon start up and I was picky about that.

How do you remove the part circled in red? The handbook says to twist counter clockwise but they don't move. |

Are these aftermarket headlights? Mine looks like the the one posted just above this post as well - just twists out like a gas tank cap.
You may want to explore what those two bolt heads in your circle are for.... |

His look oem, has the hella logo on top. I'm assuming his don't have the cornering function because that cap is specifically for replacement of the cornering light bulb

Thanks for the replies. The picture I posted is from eBay but they are the same as the headlights fitted to my car, so it looks like I don't have corning lights then?

Not necessarily a bad thing. You could look to check if there is a bulb socket in the cornering light holder. If not, you could perhaps see if there is a way to install one and connect it to your headlights or fog lights to get a quad setup. Worth exploring. I am sure this top cap can be removed one way or another to get in there after determining the possibility of installing a bulb.

H7 LED cornering light upgrade, resistor pack needed?
marmit 2017, thanks for the informative info on the LED upgrade!
I am about to make the purchase of the items you gave links to, but have some questions. 1) when purchasing the LED bulbs, did you purchase the additional resister pack? 2) I have the Carly adapter.... and have used it to change several options. So, if I turn off the High beam monitoring, do I need the resistor pack, (or will that just stop the initial start-up flashing)? |
