I emailed BMS and luckily Ando got back to me within a few minutes and said I could pick up the cable in person at their warehouse so I went there the same day. The mechanic hooked it up and now all is good. For anyone who's getting the JB4 for their F10, the usb cable or the bluetooth connection is not optional, its mandatory!

I gotta say, the change in performance with the tune and the downpipe is awesome, it is significantly quicker and more responsive. I'm using map 5 since the highest octane grade we have here is 91. I was expecting a little more noise from the downpipe though, it is louder on cold start but when its warm at idle it sounds like stock. Next upgrade is an exhaust and charge pipe. Just gotta decide between Remus, Dinan or M performance.

Coming from a Mercedes E class, I'm thoroughly loving and enjoying my 535, especially now with these mods.

I want to do the jb4 stage 2 with downpipe too but your saying even if I go catted I can still fail emisiones? Im just afraid of blowing something and I really don’t want to deal with that I have intake and m5 exhaust don’t know how much better it’s going to sound but from what Iv heard performance and power is negligible

What do you mean by blow something? Like the smog check or something in your engine? If you're worried about the engine, I was too, I researched it a lot before I got them installed. People have been putting in jb4 and downpipes on their bimmers for years now and honestly I couldn't find any posts of someone having major car issues with them. Mostly it's tune not working etc. As far as the power, it's most definitely not negligible with the jb and the downpipe, it is significantly faster. If you meant with the exhaust and intake, from what I read, exhaust won't really give you any performance it's just for sound. And the intake won't do much by itself, but when coupled with the downpipe, tune etc, it has a greater effect on power.

since installing the JB4 have you swapped out your CP yet? any issues with the OEM one cracking?

No, I haven't yet. I hope it won't crack since I'm running map 5 and its supposed to adjust boost based on engine automatically. Basically it won't give it to much boost risking anything, at least that's what it's supposed to do anyway. I do plan on changing my cp in the future though. Exhaust first.

got it! in regards to what was asked earlier about the power connection are you saying that you didn't have to do anything since everything was pretty much plug n play? are you able to toggle between maps or do you have to hook up your labtop each time?

You must have OBDII connector hooked up to JB4 2 than you can use left stalk to change maps and other functions.

thanks Paul223. just watched the video on using the stalk to change maps. is the OBDII a separate connector that needs to be purchased to work with the JB4? or is it an entirely different tune that needs to be purchased?

OBD cable is included with all the new JB4's.

New jb4 boards that are shipping for most f10's have the power wire built into the harness now..
the ground wire is still present externally and will need to be attached to ground

what do you mean by JB4 Stage2? There is no such thing as a JB4 Stage2 or JB4 Stage1
there is JB4 and N55 Stage1 they are different tunes, this confirmed by BMS.

I too have a 2014 BMW 535i X drive PWG and Stock this car was slow....I recently went with a Newly Released OBD ECU FLASH Stage 1 and OMG what a difference!!!!! Now i know what all the HYPE is about. Totally different power than a Piggyback. I cannot believe how much this changes the car. Its Unreal....Smooth Power too!!! Feels like a BMW 550i now....LOL. Backend flash is next since i have been bitten by the Power Bug......

When you say it like that, it doesn't seem like much of a power improvement but in real life the car is significantly faster with a significant improvement in acceleration. I mean major improvement over stock, the only downside to the jb4 is that it doesn't clear the CEL from the missing cat since I have a downpipe. From what I read older versions of jb had a autoclear built in but they removed that in the current version. So, every 250-300 Miles I have to connect to the jb via the usb cable and clear the cel. All that aside, that half a second literally feels like a few seconds.

just reading the info here and i'm still learning. the JB4 I got was the older version that doesn't have the OBD connection. Burgertuning said I could upgrade to the newer OBD harness. what I want to know for the time being from what was posted above that this unit is preset to map 1? is that a confirmation from Burgertuning? in my case it's a used unit so would you guys know since power has been disconnected does the unit default back to map 1? i'd like to hook this up without running a labtop to set things until later when I upgrade the harness to OBD. Any info would be appreciated!
