N55 Valvetronic is angry

2013 535i with Valvetronic issues. Has anyone else dealt with this? I’m going to get the valve cover off and see what is going on. I’m hoping I can just replace the servomoter and the eccentric shaft isn’t damaged.

Codes:
133B04 - Valvetronic system: no adjustment possible
133E10 - Valvetronic system: deactivated, adjustment fault too frequent

Well, I finally broke down and swapped the valvetronic solenoid yesterday and it cleared all my faults. It wasn't that hard with the proper fuel injector removal tool. Glad she's all happy once again.

The Valvetronic Eccentric Shaft Actuator was $198.64 and the fuel injector removal tool was $35 on Amazon. The oil squirter doesn't have a revised part number so I cleaned mine and reused. 3.5 hour job in my garage. Local Euro shop quoted $3700, but they'd be replacing the eccentric shaft, the wiring harness long with a bunch of labor as well. Mine was moving smoothly with no damaged teeth so left it alone.

Wow nice savings! These cars are well worth the effort if you can work on them yourself!

Isn't usually just the valvetronic motor that fails? How much labor is involved with something like this?

That's what I read. You do seem to read about cases of chipped and broken gear teetH on the eccentric shaft. But the motor seems to be a pretty good fix for most.

Would your car start when you had this issue? I have an N55 not my car) with the same code and it won't start - no spark. Cranks great but won't fire.

Glad I had the valvetronic motor replaced when the valve cover was done…did NOT want to have to go back in there for this

It depends on the position of the eccentric shaft. Certain position will not allow the engine to start. I forgot if it's all the way up or down. One of those position will allow it to start.

Hey man, just curious, did you have to do a relearn procedure for the new valvetronic motor?
