535i A/C Compressor Replacement Question

Hey guys,

I've just replaced the starting to fail A/C compressor on my F10 535i with a brand new OEM one (Denso). Right after replacing it and putting everything back together, I fired up ISTA-D to check for errors and now there's one:

"JBE 802093 A/C compressor: control valve, short circuit to positive or open circuit. The fault is entered if a short circuit to B+ or a line disconnection was detected at the control valve of the air conditioning compressor. The fault is entered in the fault memory if it persists for a period of at least 4 seconds".

Now I'm not entirely sure whether there's a problem with the new compressor or maybe the error is because there's no refrigerant/pressure in the A/C system. If I delete the error, it comes back right away. I was wondering maybe you guys have experienced something similar as well and could advise me before I take the car to a shop for a refrigerant refill. Thanks!

it's likely from not having any pressure detected in the lines so it's throwing the error to avoid kicking on the compressor. Technically, not having pressure at the pressure sensor causes an open circuit.

I suggest you vacuum the system, then fill it to capacity, clear all codes, allow the DME to go to sleep, and start it up
