Part #'s For Rear Diff and MT Transmission Service
I had reached out to ECS tuning and searched some of the other popular European sites without a whole lot of luck, even emailed back and forth with them and they eneded up not responding, maybe you guys can help.
Does anyone have links or a part # list for these 2 jobs: Rear Diff flush with a high end fluid, including all parts etc. MT flush with high end fluid, including all parts etc. TIA! |

I have an auto so no experience/ knowledge for the trans.
But when I did my diff service I used BMW parts. All you need is 1 liter of XO fluid (07-51-2-293-972), and a new plug (it has an o-ring integrated to it's mating surface against the diff, PN 33-11-7-525-064). Note that there's only 1 plug so you'll have to pump out the old fluid as much you can... then just re-fill with the new fluid. And it's fine if you don't pump out exactly 1 liter. As long as you get the majority of the old fluid out you'll be fine. If you want to go the extra mile, you could buy 2 liters, use one just to pour in to mix with the old leftovers... then pump that out and top off with the 2nd bottle

For what it's worth, SAF-XO has been used for decades and is, essentially, equivalent to most quality GL-5 75W90 fluids. My choice for the last while in my BMWs has been Amsoil SVG. I've also used Redline 75W90. I have Amsoil in my F10 rear diff right now. For the front diff I ended up using genuine BMW Hypoid G2 unicorn tears.
The 6MT is a little interesting. It SHOULD be able to use something like Amsoil MTF, but Amsoil pulled their recommendation on that for some reason. Since unfortunately I don't have one I have not exhaustively researched options out there. |

Thanks everyone, just did rear diff and the tranny. I used my air compressor on 5lbs and put a poly tube into the fluids and used the air to push the fluid into the diff and tranny. Worked AWESOME. With the lift the both jobs took maybe 45 mins - most of the time dealing with the stupid skid plate, lol. Wow, if you don't have a lift you need to get one, so awesome. Car is happy, and I was getting the very occasional slight grind when shifting and that is 100% gone now.

Well, I was gonna make a video but I was too lazy, I wish I would have now as I thought I wasn't really helping anyone but just got some good feedback on other videos... here is how I did it... i punctured the cap for the poly tube and for my air compressor tip and it created a seal, so absolutely zero mess... other than when the tranny or diff was full and it started to overflow slightly... it worked AWESOME.
