This is a follow up after six or so months of my previous repair with BMW. The 2014 has some issues with high pressure fuel pump for which there was a recall on my car and they fixed it last year. Exactly a year later, I had the Drive Train failure, Car was on Highway with my wife wife and 9 day old in the backseat and we were on I-10. Stopped traffic for a good 15 min after which car started again. State of panic but do have a PTSD of driving this car. Especially with newborn. Car didn't get back to normal starting and got it towed next AM. After 9 d at the dealership, they said it was the high pressure pump again which they said should take care of the issue. Four times to the dealership now for drive train malfunction, on two separate occasions they said never found the error, for the other two times, they're doing this repair. Lot of BS about doing the same repair but I am tired of this. Do you think I should file for lemon? Reach out to corporate?
Some of you suggested lemon law, some suggested push for buy back. Helpless here in between hanging diapers! |

You'd be amazed at how much can be accomplished by sending a letter to corporate explaining what's going on and asking for their support. At least that has been my experience with Mercedes and Jaguar. I can't see BMW being any different.
I wouldn't take this lying down. Reach out to corporate and see what they have to offer. My 2014 550i CPO (started with 25K miles, now ~41K) has been solid, so you shouldn't be having so much trouble with yours. |

2014 550 xdrive, n63tu engine, crank case hoses and fuel injector had to be replaced around 25,000 miles, MAF sensor around 30,000, hpfp around 35,000, and another fuel injector at 37,000 miles. Talked with service manager, and basically the message was there is an extended warranty to 120,000 miles on injectors, hpfp’s, and a few other thing, but I have to just keep going back as each thing fails.
Also had major problems with 2013 650i that I traded in because it spent weeks in the shop and I needed something more reliable. I’ve had just about enough of BMW. |
