BMW M-Button Module for 550i 650i

Hi people,

long time I was annoyed, that I have to use the "Driving Dynamics Control" switch somewhere in the car to get it into some sport mode and also have to pull gear selector for transmission sport mode. So for M-Cars there are steering wheel buttons to do that, called M1 and M2. So I thought there must be a way to fit them in non M-Cars. Just retrofitting the missing Buttons does not work, so i developed a module to provide the missing function. I build these modules for hobby, but if someone is interested just contact me. So now let's discuss what you think about it.

What the module does:
This module enables you to activate your preset driving mode with a press on a steering wheel button. To do so it uses the distance buttons from ACC which act as M1/M2. If you have none of these buttons, you can retrofit them or you can also use the cruise control wheel (faster/slower) as M1/M2. You can store the activated driving mode, by press and hold the desired button for about 4 seconds. After that you can activate/deactivate it by just a normal push. It does not only store Comfort, Sport, Sport+ etc., it also stores transmission mode (D or S).

Requirements:
-BMW 5 series 550i F07 F10 F11
-BMW 6 series 650i F06 F12 F13
-Production Date 2013+
-M sports steering wheel
(-optional MFL Buttons for ACC 7849406, the ACC buttons will work as M1/M2)
(-optional Chinese M1/M2 button, for fitting button symbol)

Installation:
-Installation is plug and play, you only have to plug it between gear selector and "Driving Dynamics Control" switch. No soldering, crimping, etc. required.
-No coding necessary

Optional:
-You can open/close the exhaust flaps with button push on the steering wheel. The selected mode will be stored even until next car start.

FAQ:
-Does the module also fit for other BMW models?
A: In theory it does, it should work for every 5 or 6 series build 2013+ and with 8HP transmission, but it's only tested for 50i models!

-What happens if gear selector is changed or "Driving Dynamics Control" switch is pushed while M1/M2 mode is active?
A: M1/M2 mode get's deactivated

-What happens if the car is turned off while M1/M2 mode is active?
A: M1/M2 mode get's deactivated

-What happens if cruise control is active and wheel up/down is used as M1/M2 button?
A: Cruise control buttons will work as usual, M1/M2 function is disabled while cruise control is enabled.

-What happens if active cruise control (ACC) is activated and distance increase/reduce is used as M1/M2 button?
A: Cruise control buttons will work as usual, M1/M2 function is disabled while cruise control is enabled.

That's awesome, is this only for the N63TU?

No it's not limited to N63TU, but if your car is not facelift model (~pre 2013), then your gear selector may have another connector (8pin instead of 10pin).

This sounds pretty awesome if you are able to provide the on demand Exhaust Flap open/close feature.

Does the gear selector switch also automatically move left to Sport mode if that is what you program it for?

I'm willing to give it a shot on the N63 platform. Fwd me any info you have

I'd also try it on the N63. I did a similar thing on my E60 which did not have a "sport" button and could be enabled via a harness.

Little update, I modified functionality a bit. So from now on the M1/M2 function is disabled while cruise control is active. So the buttons will not interfere each other.

Hi, I did not test it with M-Button variant, so you would either have to test it or you directly buy the ACC-Button variant.

You can not, cause it's not for F23.

I'm also curious if this device is still available! Also would like to know if it displays the M mode on the cluster?
