Looking to upgrade my f10 speakers. Car currently has the basic stereo.
Don't really want to install an amp so it seems the two choices are the bavsound stage one (excl the rear speakers) or the focal ifbmw-s.

Any recommendations on which one? Price wise, they are similar.

For me hands down Focals! Just my opinion tho but I just feel Bav is a great upgrade over stock but most guys go with it because of the convenience of the plug n play. I'm currently running Focal K2 Powers in my Titan

Huh, I don't see the crossovers? Are they included?

I want more of a deep bass when I crank the volume. Will bavsound do the trick? Just doing a sub upgrade.

Ifbmw-s will only fit on doors. And yes they do come w/ crossovers. If you want to change your center & rears you have to modify to fit! I use this k2's it sounded better then ifbmw. A lot smoother. For sub. Don't waste your money on under seat! Add a box @ rear. I had both ifbmw & k2's with focal under seat sub. Get the older k2's....you should still able to find them on sale & will be cheaper than ifbmw.

I'm assuming you want to be able to crank the volume, and bass with constant clarity over what your system already produces. If you add just a woofer (10 or 12 inch) you can get a nice deep bass reproduction, but at a certain point, you'll drown out the vocals and other instruments the highs and mids produce. If you want to just have more clean bass, add a powered subwoofer, like the JL Audio 10 or 12. The 10, will give you nice punch, with clean crisp response, the 12 will give you deep long thump. You just have to manipulate the "tone" settings in your idrive to clean it up or balance it out. I'm sure you don't want to be "that" guy sitting in traffic bass blasting with your trunk rattling like loose screws in a jar...

I added a powered JL sub, and upgraded my highs+mids to Focals in my E90, it sounded awesome for what I wanted. The 10 I had didn't take up much room in the trunk so it was still very functional. The only issue I had, but to this day I don't really know if it caused this, but my Alt and Battery both died out like 5-6 months after I put the powered woofer in... the battery was only 3 years old..

I installed Bavsound to my car just about a month ago. I love how crisp and how much more bass it produces. No issues so far and it was pretty easy to install.

Sounds way better than my HK in the Merc ML550, JBL in the Tundra & the Bose in the E Class. No joke. Everyone compliments the sound system whenever they ride in my 535i.

Biased here since I went for Focals. Big improvement over the stock speakers with just the standard factory amp.

The IFBMW-SUB have less of an impact at the lower end but it made everything sound clear.

I set-up the back tweeters as follows and they look really cool!

Very nice but you really don't need tweeters in the rear as the rears are basically for fill-ins. but i like what you did just for reference what Focals did you go with for the front and rears? add an amp and those Focals will take it to another level!

Were you coming from base or premium audio?

Like lsturbointeg stated, you don't need tweets in the rear as the rear sound stage is already filled out very well OEM. I remember hearing Focals for the first time back in 2002 when I was deeper into car audio and SQ. My friend had a similar setup to what I had (I had all old-school Rockford Fosgate AMPS, subs and components in my Accord) but with Focal speakers......maybe because it was a VW Golf, but good grief the mids and highs were to a point I couldn't get in my car. And mind you, the mids in direct clarity would blow your mind! If Focal's products still have that same quality, definitely stick with Focal.

The Old Skool audio days were the $hits! MBQuartz before they sold, JL Audio before they sold, Fosgates, Polk Audio and remember Boston Acoustics? Im really wanting to go Focal K2 Powers in the Bimmer since im running them in my Nissan Titan. Love them!

I remember Boston Acoustics! I was talking to the wife and I am seriously thinking about buying a 96-97 Accord sedan and do it up for SQ comp and mobile entertainment. MB Quartz was NO JOKE!!

My wife had a pretty sweet setup for her 97 Accord. She had MBQuart components powered by an Old Skool PPI amp pushing Arc Audio 2 12" Arc Audio subs in a false floor. The Accord has stupid space in the trunk and would totally be ideal for SQ comp.
