COSTCO Damaged my Wheels

Had COSTCO installed two new rear tires and ended up with several gouges on my wheels.

COSTCO’s claims rep from Gallagher Bassett has since denied the claim stating the damage isn’t consistent with anything they could’ve done to cause same.

I’m very upset and plan to follow up with an e-mail to the top execs at COSTCO.

Anyone have any advice on how to intelligently describe what likely happened, with proper terminology, etc.?

I suppose the lever that presses down on the tire to separate it from the wheel touched the wheel due to the low profile tires and caused the chips?

Your prompt replies would be helpful.

Thank you.

Depends on the tire machine, but I’d agree that those don’t appear to be cause by the tire machine. Have those wheels been refinished at some point? It almost looks as though the paint flakes off due to the stresses from the procedure...

I know my COSTCO uses the touchless machine. Agree, that looks like paint flaking from a wheel repair.

Settle down Jodi Foster! These “gouges” are hardly that. Hell even with a touch up pen these would go away. I used to be a tire buster long time ago and mounted probably hundreds if not thousands of tires. Unless Costco is using an old school machine, very unlikely it caused that damage and as others stated, looks like cheap paint. Why aren’t you talking with the “top execs” for you wheel chipping while your at it! Cool down, take a breather and just get a little touch up paint.

Nothing that a few bucks spent on amazon won't fix. Even if Costco agreed, that's what they will do for you. Save yourself some headache.

BMW's run flat tires are difficult to install at times but a seasoned tech always comes to the call when special wheels and tires such as these come in.
