my previous E39 530i msport I debadged as I thought it looked cleaner. But my F10 530d I've left the badge on this time.
Don't want poeple to think its a 520D! looks liek it might be a bugger to clean though so perhaps I should have removed it.... |

I think it is mostly a case of 520d owners wanting people to think they their car has a bigger engine than it actually has.
I wear my 520d badge loud and proud and think of the BIK!!!! |

Surely to drive a F10 is more important that be embarrassed by the engine size. What would prefer to drive a 520 or a basic non interesting A6...??

However - and this is key - if you do this to avoid the shame of being scene in one of these limp F10s, then you must also claim you are doing it for aesthetics or else face further embarrassment.

Between a 4 cylinder F10 and an A6 3.0T, I would pick the A6 3.0T every time.

Then BMW all the way. Audi's smaller engined A6s are front wheel drive. No way would I drive a front wheel drive 4 cylinder Audi over a RWD 4 cylinder BMW.

My point exactly, if you are pleased and proud to drive a BMW, why bother to debadge...? Here in the UK you don`t see many debadged Audi`s.

But Audi now debadge the car for you. You cannot get a 2.0 or 3.0 Tdi or 2.0/3.0 TFSI on the back any more. It just says TDI or TFSI with no reference to engine capacity.....

For example, if you were one of those simple minded advocates for Auto Start and Stop and you don't want to violate your Earthworm Code of Ethics then you best have the smallest engine BMW offers or risk being rightly called a hypocrite. So, those misguided folks would want to leave their badge on that shows they have the smaller engine. It can go the other way too. Some people might not want to brag they have the bigger engine. But, there is truth that it does seem cleaner without the badge. The rear deck of a BMW is a beautiful thing. There is no rear deck in the world as beautiful as a 3 series convertible---any vintage. That badge can be a distraction in what would otherwise be near flawless beauty. |

Great answer! In my case, I ordered it without model designation because I honestly think the F11 looks beautiful badgeless. And it should be easy to judge what engine size it is by noticing one exhaust pipe on each side and that pristine I6 diesel engine rattle… |

Not in the US. In the US, the entry level A6 says 2.0T and also has a missing quattro badge do denote its fwd, whereas the other model says 3.0T with Quattro underneath.

It just looks cleaner. If I had an X Drive, I'd pull those badges too. I could care less which model/engine people 'think' I've got - I know what I've got. Plus, anyone who knows the U.S. F10 can tell a 528 from a 535 from a 550 - they all have different rear bumpers and tailpipe configurations.

My previous E60 520d the badge was on and left on even after I added the M package, with the F10 I opted out as I find the space between the BMW centre badge and the 520d to small, the space is much smaller than in the E60, with the badge the rear space looked too busy.
I believe being a BMW driver on the 1st place is being someone who don't give a dam about opinion of others, I found the fact this question is even raised somehow stepping away from what this forum should be about, badge in or out gives has no impact on my opinion on the driver behind it, for a simple reason it is a BMW, I am big cars fun with great interest on the looks, I go for what I like rather than what others opinion, here in Ireland for example the rules does not apply since what we pay for a 520d is the price of a 530 if not 535 in the UK . |
