Spring installation prices. $750 for install only?! Sactown

**UPDATED** Sorry for yet another thread on this topic. Called a pretty reputable indy BMW shop here in Sacramento and was told a spring installation would be a 7 hour job, and cost $750 BEFORE the $110 for initial alignment, and another $110 for an alignment a few hundred miles later. This is a certified Dinan shop as well, so they immediately tried to sell me on those. Which is understandable. When I told them I'd be purchasing my own springs the tone changed a little. Does this seem unreasonable? I've taken my previous 5'er here before for other services and am a little surprised by how much and how long they say this will take. Wondering what prices others have paid here in Nor Cal and if there were any recommendations for other shops in the area? Thank you guys for any input.

- Just had HR Springs installed at Sonic MS on Fri, 2/22. Great group of guys and was my last resort ONLY because it's about a 2 hr drive with traffic. Well worth the drive and anyone that's on the fence about doing this... Do it. My ride quality went from a 10 to a 9.5. I would say the only thing you "feel" more are the dips in the road. Nothing more. And for what you're getting as far as looks and performance they far outweigh any perceived change in ride quality. No need for initial alignment, only after 500 miles. I paid $700 total including springs. Took just under 3 hrs.
-Will update again after wheels are installed. Included a pic for now to show height on stock wheels (iPhone, sorry).

That sounds insanely expensive for just an install. I know EAS who is an awesome shop here in SoCal charges $350 and its a 3 hr or so job. I would definitely call around for a better price.

Yeah that's the price I've seen on some other threads on this topic (At least in SoCal). Seems like everything up here costs a little more. More a lack of places like EAS in the Sacramento area than anything I would imagine. Looks like a trip to the Bay Area is in order, lol. Thanks.

Come on down to the bay and stop by for a cruise! I'm in SoCal and drove the X5M this time; gave the 535i a breather!

Ok. Just got another "reputable" shop and was quoted $950?! Wtf. Another Indy BMW shop. He started asking me about active steering and some other things. He definitely knew what he was talking about. I told him straight up that these prices seemed outrageous but he insisted that for it to be done right a lot of work had to go into it besides alignments and the like. For these prices I may just go with coils. This is all just for install, just to drive that point home. I need help fellas.

It's not a hard job to do. Very easy and takes about 3 hours or less. I've had my springs swapped 3 times for about $300 each time.

Ricky, I'm in sac also and in the same hole as you for spring installation at a reasonable price. If you find one, let me know.

Also, have you found any local places that sells exhaust systems or aftermarket parts?

Hit up Sonic MS in mountain view - I think it was around 400 for install. They do alignments too, just don't know their price.

With gas and miles it still beats the sac price and the shop is reputable.

Another option is to hit up dr phong for a mobile install or for it to be done in fremont

Good luck. - jo
